Looking to get a new longer travel bike next year and was looking at either the Reign or the Mega but have seen more and more of the Bird Aeris and was looking for some real world feed back on them

I took one out for a test spin a few months back when Ben had a stand at an Enduro event at Ae Forest.

He couldn't do enough to help then, while stuck in the middle of the shitiest, muddiest field on a pissing wet Sunday morning, which gave me enough of a good impression about how they like to work.

As for the bike - loved it. So much so, I'm waiting on mine being built as I type.

test rode one absolutely loved it. Top of the list. Compared it with:

Whyte g160 / t130
Spesh stumpjumper 650/ 29er.

Definitely the best of all of those. Wedding plans has delayed any purchase atm....

Rides like a lighter bike, and rides really well under pedalling, but really responsive on rough stuff.

I've got one, it's great. It climbs well and can descend like a demon. I can't compare it to similar bikes though as I came from a hardtail. Depending on how you spec it you can get a lot of bike for your money too.

Glad you asked OP, for some reason no-one has ever asked about the Aeris on here before.

I might take mine to the trails behind Nationwide tomorrow.

Liking the feedback guys. Most of my riding is done on the Golfie at Inners or up at Dunkrld as I like the steeper natural stuff so the Aeris sounds ideal

Bird will be at Inners with their demo bikes on 8th and 9th October for the BES, if you fancy a demo of one

What's going on with the cable routing?

[looks at mine]

brake and rear mech goes along down tube, and dropper-post routes along NDS of top tube...is that an issue? (confusion)

Is the airdrop not stealth routed then?

Has anyone ridden one back to back with a Rocket?

I know Alex (of this parish) has had a rocket (which he loved) and has a Bird Aeris which his also loves. I don't think either bike would disappoint TBH.

Thanks Nick - I did like my rocket very much although I never totally gelled with it. More me than the bike. Bought my Aeris in April last year and it's covered 3500km since all over the UK and a few France/Spain trips. It's fun, tough, well-built (still on first of bearings) and happy from a forest pootle to trying to be brave at Antur, etc.

That's what I like about it the most. Having ridden Capra's and Orange 5's, they only seem to get 'interested' when you're doing mach 5 with your hair on fire, the Aeris seems to be more fun at slightly less speed. Which works for me.

As said, Dan, Dave and Ben at Bird are top blokes and really helpful. If you're after a fun, sorted, nicely handling FS then you won't be disappointed. Having said that, Nick's Airdrop is really good as well.

+100. they were quite happy to move my demo at short notice to accommodate 'stuff'. Dan very patiently waited whilst i rode round and round in circles on a medium, a large, a medium, a large repetadly until i decided which one to take out for a full day demo.

Went large in the end; (180 cm tall) and it was perfect.

I have been considering demoing an Aeris at Forest Of Dean. Bank balance is currently saying no.
