Does anyone have any thoughts on taking a bike into a Premier Inn room (keep it clean!)
Don't really want to leave it in the car overnight but have had heard of issues with hotels not wanting bikes in rooms
I've done it with PI a few times, it's one of their selling points. Just needs to be clean, but apparently they'll give you some cleaning stuff to use if it needs it.
Yep, never had a problem bringing bikes into a Prem. Only time they didn't want us putting them into our rooms was after the Fair City Enduro in Perth, which was a mud-bath. Totally fair really. They let us store them in the locked baggage room instead, no issues.
I do it all the time. I make sure my bike is clean and carry it past reception off the ground with a lightweight blanket - for putting under the wheels - over my shoulder.
Never been an issue.
If you have any problems point them to their (very good) bike policy:
”
We’re proud to say that every one of our hotels are bike friendly. Whether you want to keep your bike in your room or have it stored away safely, the choice is yours.
We welcome clean bikes with dirt-free tyres but if your bike needs a little wipe down, ask at reception about local facilities to help you out.
All we ask is you walk your bike around the hotel, lean it gently on the wall of your room and don’t over crowd your room with lots of bikes.”

PI Scarborough N gave me their store room to put 4 bikes in once. Brilliant service.
Yes, make they are clean, and we do it all the time
We have done it a few times, either using bike bags or cheap single duvet covers to put them in and keep everything clean. Staff never even looked vaguely concerned.

Did it at a Hilton near Glasgow Airport once too 🙂
Fort Bill PI let me put 2 filthy bikes in the store room, and 2 clean ones in our room (which was too small to fit 4 bikes in anyway)
When I'm working on the National Series races I quite often take my bike, there's usually an opportunity to get out for a ride at some point on the Saturday before working on the race on Sunday.
We're usually put up in Premier Inn type places and never been any issues at all with bikes in the room.
Quite often at least a couple of the teams will be in the same hotel and they all take bikes in, there's been too many break ins to team vehicles to risk leaving them in a van.
In a PI in Inverness the staff made a point of giving us a ground floor room when they saw we had bikes so we didn't have to faff with bikes in the loft. Good service
I've done it a few times but having said that, they were either in a evoc bike bag or the flatter travel bag evoc do. 9nly the sharp eyed or well informed would have recognised them as bikes.
The long awaited sequel to Snakes on a Plane?
Premier Inn specifically advertise they allow you to do it. Obviously there's lots of fire doors and maybe stairs to negotiate but never had an issue.
Travelodge are the same
When booking a PI in Cannock, we called to enquire about taking bikes in, they said it was fine, and said that we could call back a few days before our booking to request a ground floor room to make it easier for us to get our bikes in.
Great stuff that what I was hoping. Thanks all!
Get yourself a velosock for hiding and keeping bike and room protected.
Really handy.
ask if the disabled rooms are free- ground floor, loads of room for storage

I have one of these. In a sense, unless your bike is really dirty it shouldn't really be needed but its useful to ward off any potential questions about storing your bike/peace of mind and technically your bike is just the same as any other piece of luggage when its got the sock on.
I find it helps if you can ring the site beforehand and ask nicely for a ground floor room (if applicable) - a lot easier with the bike. Did this recently at the Porthmadog PI when down riding in Snowdonia.
Well, this seems like a good an opportunity as any to try out the new image posting doo-da
Edit - ha ha. It didn't work. Or I couldn't get it to work.
Anyway. I've done it a few times. Good idea to ask for a ground floor room!
faff with bikes in the loft
yeah- those hatches are quite small to fit a bike through.
if the disabled rooms are free
Also likely to have a wet room shower to get the bike clean!
I'm in a PI room right now with my bike.
Done it a lot and never had a comment from staff.
It's a major reason why I use Premier inn for work trips instead of other chain hotels.
Especially in areas where I'd be unhappy leaving a bike in the van overnight.
I've done it a few times...never been a problem. First time I just asked if I could keep the bikes in our room - they gave me a whole different room for the bikes as they were quiet. I've tended to phone ahead now to ask that it is ok...most of the times, bikes have been in same room, last time they went in the suitcase storage room along with a load of luggage waiting to be picked up.
I lock the bikes but otherwise there hasn't been any issues with them. I think it is an appealing addition to use Premier Inn.

Great for slipping into the car - especially with 2 bikes and all the scratching that can take place. Slide straight over each other.
yeah, I'd always do it (with a clean-ish bike!) without asking anyway 😃, cool that it's actually policy though. Don't think Travelodge are the same, but the guy on the desk at the Merthyr Travelodge clocked I was a MTBer and asked me if I wanted to put my bike in my room, as they had a lot of scrotes about 😂Thats amazing. I’ve (unknowingly?!) used that service before at the Merthyr Premier Inn but thought it was just because a massive amount of their trade must come from BPW customers.
Velo sock covering the wheels and drivetrain should keep them sweet.
As others have said, it's a selling point of theirs and really handy. They are pretty much the only place I use when travelling with my bike.
I normally speak to them ahead of the visit to ask for a ground floor room if possible just to make things easier but have managed bikes in a lift no problems, sometimes have to do one at a time.
Only on one occasion did they say no when I spoke to them but I think the staff member was new and once I pointed out their bike policy all was well. They do someone's try and steer you towards a separate storage area but I was doing a multiday cycle and didn't have any decent locks with me so declined. I specifically didn't bring locks as was leaving bikes in the room.
Yeah, I've never had a problem with them, it's one of the things that would make me choose them over other budget chains.
Both Premier Inn and Travelodge I've taken bikes into many times. I was in a travelodge with my commuter bike some of last week - no questions asked, no poos given.
Them and Travelodge have been used by Audaxers for years!
Cycling over to Manchester on Sunday for a 2 day course than back Tuesday evening. Really appreciate how easy they make it travelling places by bike
Had bikes in the room at PI many times, and TL a few. I had a number of repeat stays at the PI in Cirencester, they gave me ground floor room after the first visit so I didn’t have to do the stairs with the bike.
Done it twice recently. First on a two day trip with a mate, kept the bikes in the room with us. Second time on a family trip and we had all four of our bikes. Staff at reception clocked were great and found us a store room downstairs so we didn't have to lug them all up the our room.
A little too good to be true for me.
Recently stayed at the Keswick PI after doing Winlatter with the family. Car park is tiny, so had to unload 4 bikes for overnight and park elsewhere.
Just received a fine from the car park owner ' Horizon parking' as my 40 mins to unload triggered a £50 fine! 😞
Just to let everyone know to be wary.......
Appeal in process.
@buttonmoon - a mate of mine got a fine for parking in a Premier Inn car park. Might have also been from Horizon Parking.
He regularly uses Premier Inns so went directly to them, not the parking firm, explained what had happened & the fact that he stays at Premier Inn hotels X times/year & they cancelled the fine then & there.
So - that might be an alternative avenue to go down, if you get no joy.
@stumpy01 - Thanks for that advice, I'll contact the PI direct to see if they can deal with it.
PITA the way this is set up with the external car parking companies!
