Has anyone bought a bike from Evans recently, ie post SportsDirect. Looking at a Whyte from them. The main reason is the huge discount. £750 quid cheaper than another local shop. And we can get £100 worth of accessories just now. The other shop has the bike in the shop so we could test ride it. But £750 plus a £100 voucher is very tempting.
No, but I did go into one recently for a replacement mech hanger bolt of an unusual type. Long discussion with the mechanics about what bolt it was exactly, think it might be a chainring bolt, only got a pack of black ones in stock for much money, sorry, very apologetic.
Went into Halfords over the road: "oh yeah sure we have a boxful, here have one for free"
Not quite sure what the moral of this story is, but it seemed relevant 🤷♂️
We ordered one of the Enduros with 50% off in the summer. Ordered whilst we were on holiday thinking at that price it was too good to be true and would probably be cancelled.
Opted for store pick up. Everything went smooth even down to store contacting us when it was delivered to them and again a couple of days later when it was ready for collection.
Can't fault the process

Did the same a couple of years ago with a Stumpjumper ST which had a massive discount

I've just bought a Cannondale TopStone online, arriving next week at my local store...
Bought wife’s Whyte from them in spring. Opted for home delivery which they entrusted to Evri. Bike never showed up but Twitter support was actually not too bad and received full refund in a couple of days. Reordered and had delivered to store. Sports direct Saturday boy assured me bike was fully built and safety checked but I went over it anyway. Squint stem and very uneven brake levers, but everything else was ok and even well greased. Delay was a pain but for the price I was happy. Wife got a much better bike for the budget she wanted to spend.
That's reassuring. If we go with Evans then we'll order in store, the guy I spoke to seemed to be suggesting that it would help justify their presence if we did that.
There seemed to be a Whyte with a ding in its top tube in the window of the Edinburgh branch of Evans when I went past it yesterday, so do make sure it's not that one you're buying!
Yeah, I bought a gravel bike a couple of weeks ago. Chester store, was easy and promptly delivered. Setup wasn't entirely right, the pinch bolt on the derailleur wasn't tight so slowly pulled through knackering the indexing.
Would definitely use again, but then I've not had to call on their after sales service which is what really counts when you have a problem.
It's not one they have in store.
I've not used them much but they were helpful a few years ago when I bought some gloves to collect. By the time I picked them up the price had dropped so they refunded me and sold them at the cheaper price. The other shop sold me my first proper MTB and it arrived with scratch on the top tube so it is all a bit pot luck.
I got a bike on C2W about 18 months ago. I didn't realise they charge for store delivery so got my voucher amount wrong. I phoned them up and they said they'd sort it in store, the manager made it free delivery so I didn't haven't to cancel my voucher and get a new one. They told me when it was ready and pick up was fine. I can't fault them. I haven't had issues so I don't know how their aftersales is.
Just bought a levo from them. It was 1700 quid cheaper than my local bike shop and while I hated not buying local that's a lot of money.
I had it delivered. The Comms were appalling. But it was here within a week. I would collect from the store in future
If we go ahead I'll be using the credit card and will collect from the store, if there's any issues they'll have to sort them out before I leave the store.
The mechanics at both the stores near to us are competent
I bought a Topstone last year, delivered to my house no problem. I had to deal with their warranty dept and they were good, investigated the problem, liaised with Cannondale, found no fault but still gave me £25 goodwill voucher. I would buy from them again.
