Ewe, just been over to have a peek at Bikeradar (first time in ohhh about 3 months) and that Blokes disappeared from the bottom of the page..

Then got bombarded with 3 pop up ad's that you have to click the X to get rid of the whole screen advert..

Yuk,

Won't be going over there again for a while.

Nothing quite like intrusive advertising to put off new or erstwhile visitors to a site.

Future Publishing have sold the title to another publishing company, so probably changed the editor in the process.

Allegedly, some forums will be getting a makeover very shorty. At least one of them turned Blue over Christmas.

I want to share my similar feelings with the absolute pr*ck that is Velonutter on Bikeradar forum admin. I don't swear often but he definitely deserves the title.

Gave up on BR eons ago, there's a few (well on in particular) poster who epitomises everything wrong with forums these days:

If a technical question is asked, he'll demand every possible minute detail - but never follows up when they're given. Details are important!

Every question has been asked before of course - don't you know there's a pish poor search function whereby a nearly similar question has been asked - okay it was about a different bike, a different part and different intended use - close enough though - details smetails..

If he does gift the world with constructive input he assumes a level of technical understanding that if the OP had wouldn't have needed to ask in the first place.

The other usual suspects worship him, I think they even made him a moderator - he does a great job of scaring away new users.

Nah - Cooldad had a phobia of anything aerosol based as if owning a can of GT85 meant instant death - even if you never used it, we exchanged words but it wasn't him.

Nick something perhaps?

I only use BikeRadar to post up our local rides in Hitchin Herts & don't really find it of any other interest....... Now if Singletrack had a similar forum for local MTB rides...........

Sounds like there needs to be some sort of trolling squad organised.

Nicklouse is very knowledgeable, but I do find myself rolling my eyes at half the stuff he posts in a 'puffing out his chest' sense.

I do use the MTB forum, traffic has dropped off a cliff in recent months, with several prolific posters leaving suddenly, whether struck by the ban hammer i don't know. It's very different to here, but I don't mind it.

We'll work up a Number 6 on 'em.

That's where we go a-ridin' into the forum, a-whompin' and a-whumpin' every livin' thing that posts within an inch of its life. Except the women folks, of course.

Cooldad?

Lol ๐Ÿ˜†

Cooldad is fine. He's just got a dry humour and no time for idiots.

I ride with him a lot and he's a lovely fella in person. Well actually... ๐Ÿ˜€

I gave up on the place myself as everything got a bit personal. Innocent questions would be laid into by certain forum celebs, and some would just take offence at particular people they didn't like even if the thread didn't involve them and anything you say would be contradicted, even they said the opposite elsewhere.

That and for organising rides everyone moved to Facebook, so my main reason for being there died. Plus the adverts pissed me off. At least here you can eliminate them as a subscriber.

Complaints filed to Jeff Jones about this.

JJ was warned earlier about this Velonutter and the severe image problem of Bikeradar which has escalated over months, particularly over the last year.

Let's see now. The Bikeradar Classified and Other rules can be integrated into the forum software so that users don't contravene them deliberately or by negligence. A Velonutter bulb isn't required to compound further mistakes on issues and then pour further fuel to fire with his horrible demeanour.

Velonutter = Human Error

JJ please sack that Velonutter. There are plenty of others who would/could do a far better job of moderating.

I was part of a group that did an organised ride to Paris. Velonutter was part of that group.
To be fair, he organised a lot of the logistics and his son and friend drove the support minibus but he's pretty abrasive and it caused a fracture in the group which made most of us not ride with him.
What didn't help is that he then went on to another forum after the trip and bragged about how fast he was, being part of the "fast" group and how the rest of us were amateurs.
He basically rode it as a sportive, whereas our group were touring. In reality, he was a pretty average rider. Thing that got me the most is that one guy with us was practically paralysed down one side and still made it to the end. We rode as a group with him. Unfortunately, he died not long after the trip. Just glad I got to see him achieve his dream.
Velonutter proved that he's got no class.

I have almost given up on the place Velonutter is unreasonable and is singlehanded ruining the classifieds section. I am on my last warning. He just wouldn't admit he was wrong and when I proved him wrong he gave me a warning! I try and use the mtb forum, but any sensible question turns into public ridicule. It's all but dead now, not helped with ads and contant logging out/in issues. Traffic must of halved lately

I know the pub analogy is used for this place a lot, the reason I gave up with BR is its more like a school playground, with lots of little cliques and a couple of older kids ruling the roost simply because they'd been there the longest. Similar types of conversations too. Now the ads are so intrusive I'm not bothered about a reunion

Much like to in life, once I'd grown out of socialising in school playgrounds, I socialised in the pub, with grown ups.

Interesting thread.

All this time I thought it was just me that found the massive adverts for things I have no interest in and no wish to buy unbelievably annoying.

As for the forum, I signed up a couple of years ago and then very quickly stopped using it, and just assumed that there were a few members who liked to keep the place for themselves, after being trolled almost to death.

So they have refused to do anything about it.

Preferably a ban?

Barely. Even the regulars seem to have completely deserted it recently. Not even quite sure why frankly, there was a mass exodus over a very short space of time.
