[Closed] Bike insurance?

Just built up a new Cotic Solaris with Rohloff and think it's time to get sensible and get it insured. Should probably get Mrs Rosscopeco's Orange 5 insured too as it's just as valuable.

Judging by the number of posts on here, bike theft is getting way worse.

A quick look online and prices range from £200 - £300 per year per bike for specialist companies. Anyone know if there's a big difference if I go down the home insurance route?

Much cheaper done via home contents insurance and they're usually less onerous over the T&C's. Problem is finding a decent policy now M&S isn't an option for new policies - think there's a few recent(ish) threads discussing options though

I dont know where these cheap deals are, I live in a low crime rate area and to insure my 4.5k of bikes on the house insurance it's 30 a month!

I cant really find it any cheaper.

FuzzyWuzzy:
Why is MS not an option? I just changed to them about a month ago, cost me £6.00 more than Natwest was charging me a month to include a 6k Carbon Nomad anywhere in the world?

Just tried M&S, you can add bikes still no probs. Just for intrest I added a 5k bike and it puts it up £33 a month, didn't realise it was that much but it's still cheaper than dedicated bike insurance companies and saves you on holiday insurance for trips cos you only need medical.

Yeah I guess they must still be allowing you to pay for specified items but just lowered the value of unspecified bikes that would be covered. Mind you £33 a month is a heck of a lot, on my M&S policy (old type) I added a £5k bike so had to specify it and was still less than £80 extra for the year.
