first go at frame design - is there any other software i should have a look at that may be cheaper (or free!!). Ive tried the free bike cad but it seems a bit limited for mtb.

RattleCAD is also good...

Another one for RattleCAD. The free version of Bike CAD is OK but it dosnt get you to your jig layout. Last time I used it several dimensions were missing. The free Bike CAD is to tempt you in.

RattleCAD is a bit quirky but all the dimensions are available to successfully build.

Though the full version of BikeCAD is definitely worth it if you want to get serious about designing frames...
