Anyone had any experience packing 29ers into bike boxes?

Im about to buy a Scott Scale 29er, and also considering a Trico Sports Iron Case, because the bigger wheels wont fit into the dedicated wheel slots in my existing bike box (a Bike Box Alan - otherwise excellent).

I think the wheels ought to fit in the Iron case, because its just a simple box with no special slots etc., but does anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Bump. Anyone?

Someone out there in singletrack land must have experience of this...

I ride a 29er and have been looking into bike bags for a while.
I haven't invested in one yet.
From my reading a 29er wheel with flattened tires is no larger than a road bike wheel so should fit into bags with dedicated wheel compartments.
On the CRC website when you read the bag reviews there's usually a comment from a 29er user.

I only ride 29ers and have used my bike box alan for all my travels. To do this I need to remove the tyres from the rims and seperate the fork from the frame. My frames are all carbon so I need a box that can take serious abuse - after what I witnessed at Lanzerote airport I won't settle for any shoft shell bag/box!
