So, what rides/events are people doing next year?

I've got my entry in for the Dragon ride, am pondering doing the Kielder 100 again, and I'm in the ballot for the RideLondon/Surrey hills thingy. The 5 Dales Sportive might well be added to the list too. Anything else that should be on my radar?

Spain - Joyriders
Another attempt at a CadairIdris loop
Snowdon Ranger (not a big ride but a big hill and I'm itching to try it)

Planning another pop at the Trans-Cambrian-Way. I'll be entering the Dyfi Enduro as usual. And on the road, I'm probably doing the London-Edinburgh-London

Nothing big so far- signed up for the fort william endurance downhill again, and the Tweedlove king of the hill... Want to get back out to White Room come the summer, and who knows, this might be the one when I really do ride the west highland way. Probably not though.

Fancy the mega but can't make the money make sense so probably won't. Macavalanche though.

I've got the puffer in Janurary, only as a quad though. I feel I got off too lightly with the weather this year.

And I'm going to have a crack at the Whinlatter Challenge on my SS. I can't see me doing the Keilder 100 again, it's done and it nearly broke me.

I'm apparently signed up for one of the Evans Ride It thingy-majigs. Nice to have something "big" in my calendar to look forward to, but I've never ridden that far in one go (60 miles) nor do I know if/when I'll be back on a bike properly so could be interesting (I hope in a good way!)

Hope things work out well and I can get back to XC racing (slowly!) in the summer!

Scaffell, Skiddaw and Helvellyn as a day ride. This may well turn into a cheeky epic.
A loop of the Cairngorms taking in Geldie, Feshie and Bynack Mor.DrJon did something similar last year if memory serves.
A high Cairngorm loop taking in the munros around Braeriach and MacDhui above 4000 feet.
Speyside Way as a day ride
Three Lochs Way as a day ride but adding in The Cobbler.
Ambleside to Keswick off road but with more passes this time than we rode when we did it back in October. Then it was Rosset, Angle Tarn, Dake Head, High Spy and Cat Bells but there is scope for more for sure.
South Glen Shiel Ridge - as much a walk as a ride but fine by me.
Something big point to point and hut to hut in the Alps.
And of course there's a lot more Munros for me to have a crack at with the bike....... ๐Ÿ˜€

If my redundancy goes to plan, I'm thinking of strapping some bits to my bike and seeing how far I can get in a week or two on as little outlay as possible... Then probably getting a train home.

Sanny (gnar BTW!) - without wanting to encourage cheekiness, what's Dale Head, High Spy and Catbells like on a bike? I walked that route southwards, and then down to Rosthwaite, last year as something to do in the winter on a bad day in the Lakes.

(I still reckon the Lakes 3000ers is a waste of time by bike, just a tick I suppose).

I'm hoping to get to Torridon and ride at least one Munro.

The South Downs Way also interests me (over 2 days). All my riding is in the SW locally or on trips up north or to Wales. Never ridden in the SE.

Planning the WHW too.
Perhaps a trip to Spain on the cards and also the POC King n Queen weekend so that's something to be excited about.

My main events are La Marmotte in July, then will probably enter the Kielder 100.
I'll also do a few other smaller events along the way.

Plenty I'd like to do but might not. Main one is the C2C (whitehaven to Tynemouth) in a day.

Other than that -

-Mary Townley loop
-Border Raid (from Newcastle to Bloody Bush and back)
-Kielder Marathon Series
-3Peaks
-a double imperial century (road)
-some big lakes rides
-Big GT ride (Black, Red, Blue and Innerliethen)

Don't think I'll be doing the K100, GT7 or many other events this year unless they are new or something really special.

Etape
Marmotte
Kielder 100
Tour of The Peaks
SITS
Mayhem
Leicester-London-Leicester (Charity ride in a day)
SERRL
Peak Epic

No doubt other as well ๐Ÿ˜€ Going to be a good year!

Entered El-n-back in January, Highland Trail Race in May and Mike Hall's Informal 200(mile) in March. Also riding Spanish/French border in May and about 1,800 miles of Tour Divide in July/August. Bearbones 200 in October will be on list.

To train for these plan on SDW, Trans Cambrian and Pennine Bridleway attempts.

Other than that it depends on what MrsB will allow, I guess not a lot!

Still need to sort the proper rides for next yr.
Cairngorms, Lakes, C2C, SDW, Slovenia, Canaries, have all been hinted at, although only one at most will feature.
Definitely will try squeezing in more 60-75km local rides (got some ideas there), and quite like the idea of a metric century (not done one since 1989), just to get fit for the main bike trip.

sanny, would be interest in the hut to hut stuff you have planned in the alps? got any info on that one? or just a notion?
I had this year off as I had a wedding to sort but next year looks like I quite fancy something in the Andes, a Chile thing, maybe... still need to get the xmas out the way and will then figure it OR try for the BC bike race.

Agent

We headed up Honister on the road then took the direct line up to the summit cairn before the steep descent of some 900 feet on the stone pitched trails to the tarn. In the wet, this is very challenging so tacky tyres are good for this. After that, the next carry is short and the mostly riding to Cat Bells is lovely. There are a few short carry down sections but not enough to spoil the ride. I loved it and will definitely do it again.

Ti Pin

Looking to do a Chamonix to Zermatt and beyond adventure. The huts out there are fantastic so all you really need is something like a 20 litre day pack and some decent lightweight gear.

Cheers

Sanny

PS Now I really should add an Alps road bike epic too!

Nothing planned so far, but having gotten stuck in a bit of a rut the last couple of months of this year so the plan is for more trips away to keep the biking mojo ticking over and keep up the motivation to keep fit.

If all goes to plan, i'll be racing some DH again this year, but also planning on doing;

Megavalanche, Mountain of Hell, Gravity Enduro series & some of the SuperEnduro's.

I may even do some XC races early next year to put me on the pain box & get me fitter ๐Ÿ™‚

I have entered the trans schwarzwald in August, which is a 5 dayer.

http://www.trans-schwarzwald.com

Thinking of coming back to England and doing the trailmasters in May, or may just do the trans cambrian instead.

Also planning doing a week in the Pyranees and a week in the Alps'

There is also an across Germany MTB route, going from the French border to the Czech border, which is an 8 day route, which I will probably split over 3 or 4 weekends.

Got a 3 day mixed on/off road C2C planned for the end of May to raise funds for the local hospice.
Got another C2C but along the Hadrians route in July with the local Scouts to help them to raise funds.

Hoping to do an alps trip in the Summer.

All a bit pie in the sky considering I still can't drive, let alone ride after doing my knee at Glentress in October. Getting to the local swimming pool 5 days a week to try and regain some strength and movement as only got about 50 degrees movement back so far.

Last year was 8 days on Transpyrenees (which I heartily recommend, going back in 2014), think this will be a fallow year as family means I can't do the training again. Am off work until March so will get a week in Tenerife with Lavatrax in Jan and boys trips to Afan, Peaks, Lakes and Stanes. Dragon again.

24 hours of Exposure

Wild boar chase

Erlestoke 12

Bontrager 24/12

Torq in your sleep 12

Possible sdw double

Going to give Mayhem and SITS a miss this year after the farce of this year. Better events with better courses out there.

No Racing for me.
But I have been watching Laggan on youtube and some of the chaps are looking for a 2 day trip so that's a possible tied in with a stopover on the way there.
Off to Italy on holiday this year and will get some biking in there.
Got a couple of big Lakes days already planned with a mate.
Also venturing back to Kirroughtree for the first time in about 5 (long) years looking forward to that.
Another mini Welsh trip after this years fun

Gonna do try ndw - downslink - sdw again without bailing out at blackcap, it's basically croydon to Eastbourne off road via Guildford, it's more challenging than it sounds, honest.

Only got roadie action booked in for next year (which is strange seeing as I don't even own a road bike yet!). Doing a 5 day 500 mile (supported) charity ride next summer from Edinburgh to Richmond....should be interesting. Then a few weeks later, jetting down to the Pyrenees for some 'leisurely' mountain action on the roads ๐Ÿ™‚

Ps there are still places available on the charity ride if anyone's interested! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Nothing booked yet,
Cheshire Cat
Etape du dales
Fred Whitton
White Rose

Anniversary Waltz
Langdale fell race

Yorkshire Cyclocross summer series

Keilder - but probably the 50 as I did the 100 this year after crashing out The year before.
Three peaks cyclocross

+ I want to ride my mountain bike from Ambleside-Coniston-Duddon-Boot-wasdale head-honister-grasmere using as little road as possible - has anyone done that before? Any tips ?

Might go back to the Alps, not sure what riding I'd do though. Did the Tour Du Mont Blanc this year over 5 days, not massively tough but over 3 days it'd be a good challenge.

LeJog over 4 days (cos I idiotically said I would part way through my London to Manchester day out)
Sarn Helen in 3 ( cos I love that ride and my pb is 3.5 days)
Edinburgh to London in less than 36 hours (for St. Ann's Hospice)
Twin Towers.(Blackpool to Paris) in as long as it takes (for St.Ann's Hospice)
Binning the Divide until 2014. I think I'll be knackered enough (and I'm scared).

Really should do the Kielder 100 again but Im unlikely to be fit enough and find paying to ride a bike increasingley less appealing. Dunwich Dynamo for sure, possibly some days out in the Brecons Beacons.

Since realising sustrans route 1 runs past my house it and the connecting routes have provided quite a few big days. Might have to arrange a ride oop north on route 1 and perhaps the train back.

Lastly I would still like to get over to Girona with a bike them hills look perfect and its a quick cheap flight from stanstead( this trip has been on the plan for two years and not hsppened yet). ๐Ÿ™‚
