Have had my Klein Attitude hung up in the garage unloved for past year due to riding some of my other fleet.

I've decided to set it up as a singlespeed for the approaching winter. I currently have a middleburn duo chainset on the front, which will be ok with the outer ring off. Inner ring is 32t. Current hubs are hope XC.

I don't want to buy new hubs, so which rear hub converter should i go for? Also, as the Klein only has the mini horizontal drop outs I assume I'll need some way of keeping the chain at the correct tension, some sort of 'singulator'.

Any thoughts on easiest/best way to convert would be appreciated.

cheers

-1 for DMR singulator
+1 for Rohloff one (although a lot more expensive)

I ride my Cotic Soul mostly singlespeed.

I prefer an unramped chainring, but it's not too important.
I use a shimano DX sprocket with a load of old cassette spacers, but you can get DMR sets of sprocket & spacers.
I also use a DMR Tension Seeker when I need a tensioner (push up, always) and have never had a problem with it.
Any old chain.

If you end up with a 1/8 sprocket you will need a 1/8 chain but you can still use a 9spd chainring, although your tensioner might not fit.

For those who use the Rohloff tensioner:

Do you get chain slap at all? Ive used a DMR sts (the bolt up one) obviously you dont get chain slap with that, but do you with the spring tensioned rohloff?

Cheers.

I'm using the DMR spacer kit but a normal 3/32 setup - Shimamo 9sp chain, Blackspire DH 32t ring and an 18t cog I robbed from a 9sp cassette. Before you buy a tensioner, see if you can get a magic ratio with a suitable combination of ring sizes. Try this online calculator. You will need to measure the distance between you BB axle and rear hub axle (effective chainstay length). Magic ratio calculator
