[#4743442]

I've tried some Tektro levers and BB7's and found them to pull too much cable, so much so that it felt like the lever blade would touch the bars ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

so, what drop bar leavers work best with disk brakes, esp BB7's as thats what i have.

cheers

That's too little pull? On mtb calipers?

I'd get road calipers and shimano levers - prob some around SH on fleabay.

EDIT IIRC Dia Compe and prob others did drop bar levers for V-brakes which would work OK.

<<<Registering interest in this thread>>>

I have non road BB7 calipers that I would like to use drops levers with rather than change the calipers.

Good call on the v brake compatible levers ....

I assume you have mtb bb7's? If so then Tektro do a drop bar lever designed to work with mtb v-brakes - these will work fine with your mtb bb7's.

Spesh supplied them on Tricross's in 2008 (and probably earlier/later models too)

Found them - Tektro RL520

Have you preloaded the brake arm on the caliper? A bit of tension will bring the pad in slightly so you don't need as much lever travel to apply pressure to the disc. (I have Apex levers with BB5s so feel free to ignore if that's not applicable to BB7s)

These are the Dia Compe ones:

I've got mtb BB7s and the Tektro RL520 levers. Set up well, it's all good.

If the levers get close to the bars, click the pads in a bit with the adjusters.

BB7's have an outboard pad adjuster as well as just the inboard on a BB5, so you can take up slack that way rather than adjusting the cable.
