A chap as work as asked me for advise on the best hardtail for £450 - £550. I have sort of lost track of that end of the market. His only stipluation is it must have a fork lockout. I guess he should be aiming for hydralic discs too.
So far we have looked at the Boardman (slightly too expensive but he might stratch to it). There are a couple of nice 2011 Cannodales on Pauls Cycles which seem good value.
Are there any other bargains out there? (must be new)

Thats a serious spec for that kind of money. Fork is a Recon with lockout and its got Avid Elixer 3's andan X7 drivechain! For £500! 😯
