I appreciate I'll be very lucky to get all 3! Laddo properly spat the dummy out on the final stage of a race yesterday when his chain dropped again. It had happened in a previous round and it probanly cost him a top 10 finish yesterday, credit to him though, he got off and ran with his bike when needed rather than just giving up. However the team chief mechanic (me) got a very grumpy reception when I eventually got to the bottom of the stage. So something to fit a whyte t130 running 1x11 slx clutch with 32 up front and 46 at the back.

One of the One-Up top guides ?

I've got a Bionicon C guide you can have for £0 if it's any use.

The praxis/ gusset or the slightly different rsp one. Superstar had the same one too for a while and I bought a couple. They are just a downtube clamp on band and a simple plastic channel. Works well imo.

One up Guide is relatively cheap and easy to fit to iscg05 frame mounts if you have them.

Someone did post something up from eBay a month or so ago for less than a tenner though - so that’s probably your cheapest option.

One of these works nicely and is easy to fit.

Me and OH use RSP full chain devices on our bikes. I used a top guide last year because it's all I had at short notice (along with a clutch mech and NW ring) and the chain still came off which buggered up both my race runs. Full guides FTW for racing as far as I'm concerned, knowing that the chain can't possibly come off the front ring lets you forget about it and just ride the course and get on with it.

I've got one of these eBay specials on one of my bikes.
Less than £10. Quality seems ok. Can select what type of mount you want.

Does his bike also have a narrow wide chainring and clutch mech?

I much prefer just a top guide for racing

My old bike dropped chain relatively often charging through rough stuff (racing)

My new bike on the same trails at same speeds does not

If your bikes prone to throwing the chain the top guide ones work best, even witha guide they can still get thrown, if they do in a race run getting a top/bottom guide one back on is almost impossible, just a top guide is easier

Another vote for the Specialized mini chain guide assuming everything else is running ok.

Cheers for the replies and thanks for the offer weeksy. However for 5 quid that one linked tool has got to be worth a try. Nice one.
