what do you think is the best hardtail bike out there for a grand in the sales for all round riding ???
best i found is a 2011 Genesis core 40 for £879 so far...
Without scouring the sales, the easy ones are:
carbon whippet SLX for £999
Boardman Pro hardtail (rebas) or Team FS and Voodoo Wanga (revelations) - both £999 (you can't deny that halfords buying power + less 'desirable' brand names does mean you get more for your money)
Genesis Core 40 just got rave reviews in Mountain Biking UK magazine. They reckon it's pretty near perfect
dingabell + 1 - good review in MBUK
how about a charge duster mid ? love the old school look any one have any views on this against the core 40 ?
2011 Kona Kulas are available for around £1000 at the moment.
SLX Whippet does look nice.
Canyon are getting great reviews at the moment but I would be buying a Piglet.
you could build something nice for a grand with abit of secondhand scouring in the ads.
giant xtc advance carbon with sid world cups, xtr wheels, full carbon finishing kit and a mix of xt and xtr drivechain can be yours for a grand!!! email me. pics can be provided if you are interested. size medium
dialled alpine 853 with pikes, slx, avid, hope pro2 ect.. 😀 pm me if your interested in a as new second hand build
Cube Ltd Team £989
Double butted 7005 alloy frame
Reba's
XT/SLX 10 spd
XT hubs
Hayes Stroker Ryde brakes
Easton finishing kit
Schwalbe tyres
Almost unbeatable value compared with other bikes at RRP, none in the sales yet though as they're still selling very well
Alexxx you should split and sell me the pikes!
I'm pretty keen on the Core 40 too. Have been looking at low-end full suspension this year too, but am starting to think that c.£1,000 hardtails are better value (and probably match my technique better at the moment!)
Can I ask mansfield75 where you've seen the 2011 Core 40 for £879? Best price I've found so far is £989 in the Evans sale...
mansfield75 i have a duster mid 😀 [IMG]
[/IMG] absolutely love it 😀 haven't ridden the core bike though.but looking at it would say that it would be tougher (i.e jumping).as i do not do air/only weigh about 9 stone,my duster is bang on for me,but you might want something a bit tougher as the duster does have very skinny tubing.
any of the 2009 bikes they're still trying to shift in various stores (Marins at bikescene being 1 example)
