Having replaced the bearings on my hoover washing machine, I have managed to damage the thread on the shaft of the drum. I would prefer not to replace the drum/spider so am left with repairing the thread.
Unknown to me there are various thread widths for an M12 thread.
Before ordering a die, I wondered if anyone knows what the thread diameter a hoover drum thread is?
I have no way of measuring the thread width, so hope someone knows as I can't find anything on the net.
Thanks
Rhys
Could you get your hands on an m12 bolt and offer it up to check the pitch? My first guess would be standard coarse. (1.75 I think?)
Yay for home-done repairs.

I hope you have better luck than me Matt.
Have you got some other standard bolts, m6, m8, m10? Just offer them up against the thread and compare the pitch
Mine was up and running an hour after that pic.
Why not call Hotpoint Customer Service?
You need one of these fella 8)
M12 can be had in either 'coarse' 1.75mm pitch (standard fare, what you'd get wandering in to an engineers merchants asking for an M12 bolt.. or two different 'fine' pitches 1.25mm or 1.5mm
So, take a steel rule to the offending article, and using good old fashioned eyesight, check the pitch and salt to taste.
