Yep, reckon cheap bearings.......

So, given I now have a pair of SKF 6001 2RSH in my mitts, how do I fit them?

Remove end-caps and simply tap bearings out using axle and soft hammer?

Will I need a press to install the new ones - have access to one if required.

Not interested in tentacles, etc....

I don't know the process for the superstar hubs but if you go to the Hope how to videos it could give you a general idea of what to expect. For pressing the bearing into a hope hub you get metel supports and bearing drifts, alot of prople use sockets and a vice instead and tap them into place with a plactic mallet. Having the specific tools eliminates damage to the bearings but if you are carefull in what you do with a socket i'm sure it'd be fine as well.
