Before you all yawn, this is hopefully not going to be a another what tyre for this type of soil in a 10mph westerly......
I have a Cube Stereo, which is my second proper bike after a rockhopper. I have had this since may 2011and have changed various parts to my liking. However, I have been running the tyres as they can out of the factory - fat alberts 2.4's.
Now that the better weather is upon us I am looking for a better weather tyre.
I ride, Tarmac, sherwood pines, Cannock, hopefully more as I learn more but that is where I am at for now.
I would like a faster rolling but more grip and confidence enspiring ride.
cheers in advance....
that's if I get any straight answers ๐
Ardent is faster rolling but fat alberts are mighty grippy, what pressures you been running?, advantages also good..
Try maxxis advantage 2.25, work for me after some advice on here.
I like to run my tyres at 40psi,which I know seems high, but I'm fat and feel like I am running on my rims with lunch less ๐
What are the thoughts on panaracer rampage?
Maxxis is where it's at for Cannock
2.25 Advantage 60a on the front, 2.25 60a CrossMark on the back. Swap the Advantage for an Ardent/HR for dryer/wetter conditions.
25 psi in the front, 30 psi rear.
Ignitors are ace.
Very grippy 99% of the time, bit dodgy in thick mud.
Very safe and predictable.
My favourites by far.
Advantages are great tyres, slightly better in the slop, but feel a bit draggier.
Can also cause some strange 'tramlining' on the front, but good allrounders.
Nowt wrong with Panaracer tyres, not found a bad one yet.
They're just not fashionable at the mo, god knows why.
Cinders are stupidly grippy, but a bit draggy - great on the front.
Specialized Purgatorys are great tyres too and much better value than any of the Maxxis ones.
Why not have a swap with your mates for a day? Try a few different ones and see what suits?
Maxxis Advantage front and rear, here.
Seem fine. Used them at Cannock several times and I'm currently still alive.
