I know the title has reached the peak of exciting topics, but gird your loins to help a fellow BB30 creak sufferer...

I cured the dreaded BB30 cacophony on the road bike with a Praxisworks converter, only thing to quell the quacking. I have a carbon cannondale MTB with BB30 which I may do the same to...would like to run a shimano crank. I have some of those press in adapters but on the other bike they still creaked so would like a full converter to put the bearings outboard. Thing is though that where the road bike had a removable circlip to allow the converter sleeve to pass through, the CanyonSnail has a machined in unremovable Alu lip for where the bearing seats.

Has anyone come across a converter style BB that works with this less common implementation of BB30, it would need a built in step to clear the lip.

I have scoured the net and can't seem to find an obvious answer...

I don't want to teach you to suck eggs, but have you ruled out all other possibilities? I'm only asking as I cant believe Im the only person in the world with a long lasting, creak free BB30 frame?

I just can't figure out why people seem to have a desire for external cups with replaceable press in bearings, but can't get on with BB30.

Propper drift to remove them, and a propper press to push then in. Loctite bearing compound on the races. And it doesn't make a whisper of a squeak.

Some people get lucky. On both bikes I'm convinced it's an alignment issue that causes the creaking, judging by the uneven wear marks on the cranks/ spacers - so obviously if one's lucky enough to get a frame within spec then it won't present with the issue, this sort of thing is well documented. Yes, have tried the Loctite + Activator method, know what am doing and have a decent bearing press at home...made no difference on either bike. On the MTB it's more an issue with the fancy Hologram SiSL cranks that have a rock chip in a place that may cause them to fail, and am baulking at the £800 replacement cost for a crankset!

In my experience a Shimano crank system is the most reliable and trouble free and that the 24mm axle is best supported with a widely spaced bearing, it's the only combination that silenced my road BB30/OSBB after exhausting every other avenue...

I had a cannondale f29 bb30. That had a lip on. I ground it off with file and dremel and fitted an fsa threaded converter. Ran with shimano cranks for 3 years til I sold it to a mate.Still going strong and no creaks at all.
