After powder coating...how important?

For bike shop owners offering facing as a service, it can be an important source of income.
For everyone else, it's irrelevant.

So not critical, but check the finish and apply common sense?

Headset facing reasonably important, less so with cartridge headsets. BB facing I've never seen the point to.

I can see the importance of it theoretically, but thought I'd get some actual advice before I part with £30 to get it doen.

Ta!

Don't do it.

That gives you the opportunity to come on here later whinging about how your BB bearings failed.

was it faced before you had it powder coated?

If it was then some wet and dry on a block of wood and take just the powdercoat off on the bb/headtube faces prior to refittign the bits?

Erm it was new when I had it, headset cups came fitted and I never faced the BB or anything as I assumed it would already be square from the factory?

Bearings are 4 years old and still running fine so I guess they're seated pretty well.

I'd just rub the powdercoat down and refit then.

bit of grease on the surfaces and it'll be fine.

Might be a few globs on the disc mounts which will need removing n'all. Unless its a road bike.

Alex, it's for my Simple - hadn't considered the mounts.

Cheers all 🙂
