Heading up on Sat with the family. Anyone around for some early morning stuff ? Quite fancy Loch Eanaich as haven't done before, plus the usual Loch an Eilean, Loch Gamhna, Ryvoan, and Burma rd stuff.

I can generally wangle a pass from first light till late morning....

Go into bothy bikes, tie in with my mate Craig, he'll sort you with some awesome high burnside trails.

Is that Craig that's just moved up there in the past couple of months?, i was speaking with him in the shop when i was up that way at the start of September - seems very decent.

And +1 for the Burnside trails, they've really come on in the past few years.

Iain - I should be about some of those dates and happy to accompany you on some of those routes if you don't mind dawdling at my speed.

High Burnside isn't my thing though ๐Ÿ˜‰

You won't know him Iain, as soma says, he's only been up there a couple of months. Skinny studenty type, unkempt hair. Good lad.

Just don't try and keep up with Miller if you go a ride with him ๐Ÿ™‚ burnside is similar to Aberfoyle, steep, narrow and muddy "enduro" trails.

anyone fancy penciling in something for Sunday early ? weather at present looks like maybe decent. An 830/900 am start from town and lunchtime finish would be ideal for me so as not to eat too much into family holiday time. Loch Eanaich is on my to do list for the week...

Ooh, could I join in?

Up for the week, staying along at Boat of Garten. Not up til Sunday evening though.

Never ventured up above High Burnside, tend to stick to what I know round Aviemore, but thought before there must be good stuff up there.

2tyred - of course ! I'm there for the week, arriving Sat, staying Dalfaber end of town. We can hopefully bump this thread along this week and next to get a few rides/beers sorted ๐Ÿ™‚

I'm more of a wheels on ground type rider, so not sure if the High Burnside stuff will be my cup of tea, but happy to have a look !

love the little trails round Nethy Bridge, some absolute delights there. Might be persuaded to head down for a short day's riding..

High Burnside would scare me witless ๐Ÿ™‚

^^^^^ yeah, I tend to prefer the less endurotastic gnarr stuff as too old and lacking in skill ๐Ÿ™‚

The more your tyres are off the ground, the longer they'll last! ๐Ÿ˜†

Loch Eanaich then?

Rothiemurchus visitor centre / Druie (druidh ๐Ÿ™‚ ) cafe would be a good meeting point though I'll be cycling the length of Aviemore to get there so anywhere along the way is fine.

Time?

I can't make Sunday morning, but can someone post up their Strava or GPS route for Loch Eanaich, as would like to try this route sometime.

Pretty straightforward. Just depends where you are starting and how much other exploring you are doing. I'll post up a gpx file after Sunday though if you'd like to replicate what we do.

Edit: just realised it'll be 11th October. (see stickies)

Thanks, planning on hiring a fat bike for my son from Bothy Bikes one day, and then heading out for an explore.

Speaking of the Burma road - the carrbridge end has been/is being sanitised into billiard table smooth track ๐Ÿ™

Yes ๐Ÿ™

First bit down from the bridge hasn't been done yet but maybe from half way to the archers stone (from the bridge) all the way to Inverlaidnan at least ๐Ÿ™ I loved that bit!

Good to meet you Iain, night ride for Wednsday with a pint at the old bridge inn is on the cards.
A couple of potential routes would be up the loggers trail to the ride a nice piece of singletrack above Glenmore Lodge, then off round Loch Morlich with another short singletrack section, round to Loch an Eilein and back to the Old Bridge Inn via the Poltcher. Or a slightly shorter option would be to head out to cake or death (via Loch an Eilein, Loch Gamhna, past the bothy to inshriach forest) and then back again, returning to the old bridge inn ๐Ÿ™‚

I will post a start time and meeting place closer to Wednsday!
