[#227658]

can anyone tell me what the difference is between an avid juicy 160mm "roundagon" rotor and the BB7 version? says on CRC that the BB7 version is specific.

I've just bought some 2nd hand rotors and they make all sorts of horrible noises if i fit one and run it through the brake....

I've used Hope , Shimano and two different types of Avid rotors in my BB7's with no problems at all.

Sounds like you need to realine them.

I use Hayes and Avid (bb7 specific ones) with no noticeable difference. Check you have the right sized adapters?

i have 2 sets of 160mm discs, (one warped) and these new ones are a slightly different design, i replaced the warped disc and it makes a horrible noise in the caliper, not touching the pads more like it is touching the actual caliper. i have 160mm IS mounts on the avids and have been using the other 160mm discs fine. these new ones of alternative design make an awful racket, i tried re-aligning everything, pushing the pads back etc to no avail.

constantly? my juicy 7's both make a kind of "ching"ing noise for a bit every now and then, never been sure what it is tho.

no i pushed the pads right back. and yes it is a ching noise on the rotor like something solid clipping the outer edge of the disc. pretty strange. i laid one of the new discs over the old one and they are no bigger in diameter, slightly different centre design and the holes in the rotor braking surface are in different places but thats all i can find.

I get a chinging noise on my Juicy 7's, in my experiences its usually the retaining spring hitting the rotor!
