anyone come across this?
the brake works but lever almost back to the bar and spongey
any help would be great
thanks
Sounds like the master cylinder piston is stuck in, covering the port between the reservoir and cylinder. Possible causes are accident damage to the lever causing it to stick (bent lever, bent pushrod), or maybe swollen seals(stray lube can cause this).
would gt85 cause the seals to swell? aparentley they cleaned it all up the night before it came to me as they were fitting new pads just spoke to him and said they pushed the pistons back so this may cause the blockage.
Quite possibly, not had to work on anything that's been done with GT85, but seen many that have been destroyed with other spray lubes. If they are damaged, new piston assemblies are about £12.95, and i'd recommend a tin of Muc-Off brake cleaner(it seems to have more pressure than others)to thoroughly flush out the whole lever(wear goggles, you don't want either fluid in your eyes).A smear of silicone grease from a plumbers supplier on the seals helps them in, and keeps them moving freely(works wonders on the caliper pistons/seals too, may be worth a strip and clean too as you'll have to bleed it anyway).
