Gonna be flying with the bike soon and I'm looking for the best/most compact convenient way I can get it safely to the other side. Box seems like a popular choice but would be awkward to carry. Have seen that a lbs has the Avenir Padded Bike Bag on sale and wondering if anyone has used this successfully? Looks a lot more compact than the DHB one. I don't mind taking off forks and bars to make it fit into a smaller space.
I would probably line it with double-wall cardboard box and obviously properly pad up the delicate bits like mech hanger etc.
So, bag good or is as small a box as I can fit it into a better option?
