Oldfart the sheeps skull knottie posted a pic of is now near halsway post, it's laying in wait for you, relocated and hidden for your ease of collection, it kept me company today for part of my 21km walk, where i explored lesser known areas....

There a fantastic array of deer tracks off Danesborough, most trails seem super dry, even the hurley beacon traverse, though it's still a little overgrown in dying off bracken and just down the road from halways manor wild strawberries WERE found and enjoyed...plenty of fat juicy blackberries on the road to the layby cafe where i had the last of the cherry shortbread, lots of sloes are now about on the track between holford and hodders and the last of the whortle berries can be found at the top of ladies combe and straight over towards bin combe entrance.

Oh and it's fungi season so look out for them sorts scurrying about in the woods looking for there poison.

One last note..the gas line and many other trails used to be single track, this are all getting wider and or turning into double track where riders are either not able to stick to the old trail or not wanting to get wet bums or dirty bikes...in a few years all these trails will lose some of their appeal as well as harming our reputation as mountain bikers as a user group will cop most the blame as usual...

The skull as really old and weathered, it's missing most of it's nose section and mouth, a better one should be found soon after the bracken dies back, but rarely you'll get one complete with lower jaw and as i said on Sunday, the actual horn coverings slip off when the connecting tissues rot, this leaves a horn like bone structure so the effect will still be there..

There should be a few in the entrance to mine and jambos trail but it appears something has moved them...there should also be a fox skull and spine, all left there for last years haloween ride...

The skull is placed at the foot of the third post to the right of the halsway style, next to the beaters, i'm not about tomorrow at all.
