[#11449714]

I recently purchased this bike carrier after reviews from here and elsewhere and seemed good quality and value for multi-bike travel, was well thought of.

I've only had it a few weeks and have noticed that the shiny anodised surface aluminium surface finish is already fading in many places, also cracking in places.

I'm wondering if an other owners of an Atera bike carriers have noted the same issue, as feedback from retailer (roofbox.co.uk) was that this is standard, even though only 4weeks old. It looks pretty awful and surely cannot be normal for a 4week old piece of kit to deteriorate like this, even if superficial only. It can only get worse in time is my worry.

Surface damage is where bars were bent to shape, so seems stress may have damaged the surface finish, however surely this shouldn't happen.

Anyone else any experience or not of this happening to your aluminium carrier, either same make or different?

Looks normal to me.
Ours was like that from new.
Just marks where the tube is bent.

If it bothers you just drive up a forest road for a couple of miles after it's rained and you won't be able to see it.😁

OP, you really need to get out more. Just put the ****in' bikes on the carrier and take them somewhere and go for a ride.

I can't believe what you've written. It really troubles me.
