I'm working near Aston hill bike park, how is the riding there, I've squeezed my bike in my van, so maybe try and ride in the evening 7pm onwards will it all be open, for an hour or two? I'll be on my Remedy9 trundling round ๐
It should still be alright, in terms of slippy wet chalk, just watch them roots!
The Hill does have a closing time I think, I'm not sure if anyone pays any attention to it though.
I think you can park outside on the road, but dont hold me to it!!!!
it's been a while, but assuming things haven't changed too much, rooty, steep in parts, about 4 DH tracks, lots of fun, can be a bit sketch in the wet, full face and armour recommended
one thing: website http://www.rideastonhill.co.uk/about/times/ says open til 1930, so you may be pushing it, and they're not insured for people to ride after they close.
Thanks for the replies, maybe stick my ST Minions in the van , full face and armour maybe ๐ฏ maybe I'll stick to the XC bits ๐
checked it out this evening gates are locked at 7;30pm so will have to try and get there early tomorrow, look dry and dusty, chatted to a couple of guys said it was well worth the ride...
Some people park on the verge outside the gate, never had to myself though.
I usually park on the car park until they lock up and then move onto the small layby just down the hill from the carpark entrance. Although the park is technically closed then, if you ride 100m up the road, you can get to the start of the trails easily enough. I rode there on Friday and despite the heavy rain on Thursday it was largely dry and there was plenty of grip. The XC loop is a bit of a super narrow slog up and down - I wouldn't bother - the DH runs are all nicely different and a Remedy will be fine (I ride a 165mm ML8 there). The black is not that fast but quite steep and technical. DH3, DH4 and 423 are all worth a few runs despite the push back up (I used to ride up but it is bloody steep!).
ST Minions are perfect there - seem to find grip even when it's wet, and armour and a full face lid are a good idea too - lots of trees to hit!
It's an awesome place to ride - the XC loop is only ~6 miles long but the designers and builders have really made the best with what they have - some awesome trails, fantastic downhills, with everything from technical root sections to flat out flowy sections. The climbs are killers though! Well worth a visit.
Thanks for the info, ST Minions and full face etc sat in a bag at home forgot to pick them up this morning, so standard minion and crossmark will have to do, so will go steady,,

I haven't been since May '09, have they done lots of improvements in the last couple of years as it was distinctly "meh" back then?
Might be there myself this eve so I'll say hi if I see you.

chakaping , I managed to get up there last night, had a trundle round the XC trail, on my Trek , didn't get there til 7:30 pm ish went dark quite quick, some nice trails and some steep climbs. Thanks for your info I parked on the verge along with a few others said hello to some of them, so don't know if it was you ๐ met a guy on an orange 224 he was having fun, I stayed off the DH trails armour was very apparent.
cheers
I've done the DH runs without armour (but with a full face lid) - all parts of them are rollable! Worth another visit I think!
I'd like to go again nearly 200miles from home, so not a quick jaunt ๐
maybe not in the semi dark next time ๐
It's good but I hate the push up - I wish they could do an uplift but don't think there's any easy way back up by car, the fire roads aren't suitable.
