I'm having a real trawl round for a commuter/light tourer bike and came upon this (theoretically quite decent) Kona Dew Plus on Fleabay.

Stone the crows.

[img] [/img]

Has somebody ridden full tilt into the ugly tree on it?

Surely Kona never made a bike that bad? ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Apparently it's a 60cm frame. Thank God it's too big for me. That was close.....

I wonder where they measured that 60cm....?

OK it's no beauty but it's not that bad. Certainly not compared to some of the stuff you see on here!

My 56 uses a 230mm steerer on the fork.. but that 60 is silly.

Fairly ugly bikes - not something you normally see from Kona.

See that blue one is nice. What happened?

I can just imagine the conversation at Kona R&D

"Righto lads, it's Friday lunchtime. Pub?"
"Hang on, I've just got to finish this last Dew frame design"
"Do it when you get back"

**8 pints later**

"Done *burp* it. Yesh, it looksh reeeeealy good, speshly if I closhe one eye a bit. Thoshe tall *hic* chaps need a high front end I shupposhe"

My brain is telling me I shouldn't like that Kona, but my eyes are loving it.

Stick a Brooks saddle on it, some more swept back bars, an EBB and a hub gear and it'd look brill.

I don't have any, thankfully. Imagine the bastard offspring of that Dew and the green paperclip.

Par for the course for me, all my bikes have big head tubes (my old Trance had a mahooooosive one) and all my old 26" bikes ran a full 265mm uncut steerer tube also with lots of spacers.
It's been a novelty for me since i move to 29ers that i have actually cut down two sets of forks to a tiny (by my standards) 220mm. That's still on bikes which are 22" and 23" though but the headtubes are both way smaller than my 2006 XL trance which was around 20cm.

Its only because they've decided to use a non suspension corrected fork (probably to use full guards) that they've had to put an extended head tube on. Being a 700c would account for the steep head angle on tha massive frame

It does make my 21.5" (non suspension corrected) Trek look comparitively normal though*:

*Or so I think

It gets better and better.

Part of the advert for the Carerra -

it has front and rear disc brakes and the front post has been raised with crome spacers which for cosmetic purposes i have pvc taped, this bike has kevlar lined tyres and a pretty good gearing enables you to get good road speed.

๐Ÿ˜ฏ

๐Ÿ˜†

I can only imagine how badly this handles at a "good road speed"

**shakes head**

Is the front wheel smaller than the back on that Kona?

No, just slightly further away. Which means that headtube is larger than it looks as well! ๐Ÿ˜ฏ
