Been going on for a while. Eminates from bottom bracket drivetrain area when putting power down. Seems to be at same point of pedal push on both sides So far checked and greased where appropriate, saddle and post qr, rear hub and qr and cassette, pedals, hanger and mech bolts, chainring bolts, crank arm bolts, checked frame fro cracks bb cups and finally swapped bb bearings.
Still creaks! Any words of wisdom. It's an oranges st4. My only thought is the suspension bearings....is that possible?
What year is your ST4? Is it the old or new style? I'm having the same problem (with the old style), but have yet to go round thoroughly checking everything. I suspect it might be the bearings, though. My shock is due a repair so while it's out I (read: my LBS) can check them.
Newer style with box chainstays. Hope it isn't the suspension bearings. Hoouzo you check? Let air out of shock and manipulate the suspension to see if it's grouchy?
I guess that's one way, but probably better to pull the whole lot apart (if you can bear it) and check each by hand. I'm too lazy to do it myself, so will probably punt it to my LBS to scratch their heads over!
It's a real loud creak too so even if the bearings are perhaps a bit rough I can't see that beings the cause of the noise or is that not the case
Check your rear dropouts, rear hub and QRs, lightly (very) grease contact points.
Try taking the front mech off and cleaning where it clamps the frame.
As above check rear skewer. A reasonably common problem on Orange frames. Spent ages riding round Cannock Chase with a mate trying to discover where his creak was coming from. Good luck.
had exactly the same symptoms on my yeti asr5. it was the mech hanger loose but you say you've already checked it so probably no help at all.
