Looks like a v-brake rim to me with the flat sidewalls like that.
Also, a quick google on that rim brings up various links that suggest it is made in all sorts of sizes and is used for BMX and cyclocross... neither of which would be really using discs.
Yup looks ok.
looks like they are just anodised... it there is surface there & the brakes will stop you, nothing to worry about.
just spent a small fortune on a custom built foldable
That is such a worrying statement 😉
yeah i regret buying it now. i changed jobs so commute went from 25km to 3 and no space for normal bikes in new office. then child came along and opportunities for all day planned cycling trips dried up. felt like cycling was being taken away fromme. i bought folder so I could grab an hour or two's cycling before or after work.,. did the trick but there was no need to go mad. ah well
Use it - if something is fun on a 26" wheel bike, it's even more fun on 20"
No regrets 🙂
why is every third spoke hole in the rim not being used - mismatch between hubs and rims??
BMX rims and commuting hub?
they're not bmx rims, they're 16 inch (brompton size) rims. it's got an xt hub at the back i forgot to specify the front hub so they put their standard issue which is some kind of made in china generic thing. and yeah the rims are 36h but for this wheel size (and 24h hub up front) is not necessary to have the wheel so full of spokes..saves a bit of weight. looks a bit odd but, wheel builders corerct me, is OK to do that
Pretty sure the wheelpro book says you really shouldn't build a mistmatch rim hole/spoke count. Will be hilarious when you try and true them for a start! Spoke tensions all over the place.
oops,
i did find this...
