I don't think I am going to be able to take part this year but have missed deadline to transfer tickets, does anyone know if i sell my tickets if they check the names thoroughly?

I.e. everything will be in my name (tickets etc), will the attending person need official ID?

They've checked my ID at sign on every year, others say they've not been checked so luck of the draw i think.

lend them your ID, they will just check the name surely, especially if you tip up wearing sunglasses and a helmet.

Also be funny and engaging they will be distracted by charm and forget the rest.

Looks like money lost then, dammit. I will try and see if they will be flexible if someone else were to turn up with my tickets

I missed last 2 years - year 1 sold ticket on to a mate on the proviso if rejected no charge he never got asked and paid me the cash .. same last year asked for ID said he left at home got rejected ..

Luck of the draw .. is it Saturday or Sunday its for ? might be a bit lax-er if that's a word after the main event and a few beers.

Difficult to flog on with the uncertainty attached, I have a friend thinking of joining us sunday i could ask if its for that date

Why on earth cant they allow you to give / sell your ticket in cases like these.ย  Seems bloody daft.

@trimix

They could but it's a pain in the backside from an admin point of view, more so the closer to the event it gets. Also allowing people to buy tickets then sell them on massively increases the opportunity for speculative sign-up making it more difficult to get hold of already hugely oversubscribed tickets and whilst I've not seen it with cycling events it's very common with popular events that folk buy tickets solely to sell on at profit.

No-one (organisers excepted maybe) liked their original 50% early refund then nothing policy, but tbh, I'd personally be all for no transfers, 85% ish refund for early ish cancellations and a proper waiting list.

Its only an admin pain because they organise their admin badly.ย  Buy a ticket, bring ticket to event, race.ย  The ticket dosent need a name / ID etc on it.ย  It just needs to be a unique number.ย  A blooming coatroom ticket system would do.

No need to make it complicated.

Buy ticket

Print ticket

Bring ticket to event

Sign name next to ticket number on bit of paper.

Job done.

I guess they do it to stop people buying loads of tickets with no intention on going and selling on for profit nearer the event (cause it sells out quickly).

But then no good cause they send everything to printers 1 Jul and so cant change anything and genuine cant goes like myself lose out ๐Ÿ™
