Some questions from a first timer...
I'm doing the Sunday Sport, also going on the Friday for a few demos/atmosphere
1) Are there water taps at the event (not in camping field, as it seems they are wrist band only to enter)
2) Is there a water station on the course?
3) How does the stage start work on the sport - just queue up and go when you think you've left enough gap? 35 riders every 5 mins means about a 10 second gap on average, I'll need to make some slightly-quicker-than-me friends to tail down.
OK - answered my own water questions:
Start – You can top up your bottle or water at the Camelbak stand before you head out on course.
Water – There’s a water tap in Langthwaite Village Square just outside the Red Lion pub which is between stage 2 and 3.
Camelbak Rehydration Station – You can top up your water and grab a Clif bar just after stage three.
Red Bull Energy Station – Located between stages 5 and 6 and they will be providing a 50/50 mix of Red Bull and water.
1) I’ve only seen water taps in the camping fields but I don’t think anyone will stop you walking in to fill a bottle.
2) Last year there was only one water stop with snacks after either stage 3 or 4.
3) Stage start is a queue up and go in turn. Queue is pretty long on first couple of stages so you are going a regular intervals but you’ll have space in front and behind. By stage 3 everyone is so spread out that you can pretty much go as you feel.
4) Make sure you have enough water, food and tools etc. If you get stuck I’m sure people will help but your a ways from any where and there isn’t a lot of support out on course.
There are water taps at points on the course. And at the village
Your grouped for start time check the site as that should be showing by now.
At the stages you go on the marshals shout. If your with a group you can go together. I'll generally try n go after a fast lad n advise the guy behind to stall long enough to ensure they go clean.
Look out for a black t4 camping with a white t5 next too it with a bergamont n 2 nukeproofs
Is there specific stage start times on the Saturday Enduro or is first come first served?
Sorry for the hijack 😁
50/50 mix of Red Bull and water.
Sounds delicious. Could they not get any Rich Energy?
Depending on your start time, you may well be in for a few long waits at the top of the stages. We queued for an eternity last year after getting a late start time on the Sport.
advise the guy behind to stall long enough to ensure they go clean
yeah nah. if you all do this it takes forever to get started and the queues get ridiculous.
expect to have to overtake and expect to be overtaken, don't put each other in danger during overtakes and have a good time.
the odd overtake won't ruin your time, we're mostly battling for mid-pack on here. If you're important enough that overtaking is beneath you, you'd be starting off with Nico, Peaty and T-Mo.
Youll easily spot that white t5 as theyll be hardly any there....
Ok - seems like there's enough water to bottle it - no sweaty monkey on my back 🙂
Cliff blocks and redbull to provide the fuel, I pity that portaloo company
I'm in the 9:10 wave, first start is 7.45, last start is 11.30.
i hope the redbull is canned water like the professionals drink..
if you are going to shout 'rider' don't embarrass yourself by
(a) not looking ahead and crashing into the guy 2 in front
and (b) overtaking and then not have the legs to pedal to the finish line..
i had 2 guys on the last stage shout rider, it was open grass so i gave them the racing line..
only to nail it past them within 15-20 metres of their overtake
happens a lot. Loads thing they are going to win and shout rider from miles back then try and pass.
Don't stress about it too much on the Sunday, it's non-competitive 😜
And if your chain randomly falls off and jams on the first stage then expect it to happen on every other stage as well, doing Naughty Northumbrian this year and bought a chain device.

I note the smiley, but officially the Sunday enduro is competitive...just everyone has buggered off following the main Saturday race. There are more than a few people who took the Sunday as the couldn’t get into the Saturday...like my group.
A few odd rules (maybe new for this year??)
Due to licensing conditions no glass is allowed
No personal alcohol in the festival area ----this is def a new one. £5 or 6 a beer anyone?
£5 or 6 a beer anyone?
I live down south, and just got back from Morzine. Bargain.

Is it bad form to fill the camelbak with ale?
Juat seems to me that its gone completely over the top this year with all the new rules and camping / parking fiasco. No personal Ale is the last straw. The queue for the beer bar was ludicrous last year.
Glad I decided not to bother. Last few years were great, but just seems like a massive faff now.
I'd like to see them enforcing no ale, imagine trying to separate Lowey from a barrel of Lakeland Gold?! 🙂
No-one seems to have mentioned the three quid a pop for a shower.... !
DrP
Is there a link to all these new rules?
Lowery you bringing a barrel of ale to the Lakes then 🙂
I would have done Rich, but away that weekend for my 50th.
Is there a link to all these new rules?
Under basic camping rules "show more"

The camping field looks to be under water at the moment, flash floods, not looking good.

Noooooooo ---please not another event cancelled due to the UK weather!
No-one seems to have mentioned the three quid a pop for a shower
I'll be jumping in the river like we did last year 🙂
Further question - how do I actually book on a demo? do I have to do it on the day in person?
Ard rock website, list of demos, click on brand, just goes straight to international website homepage.

OOf..really...?
Though I take it with a pinch of salt...what's the forecast locally looking like? (I'm aware I could just use a weather app...but i'd rather go by local knowledge and reviews!)
DrP
Its pissing it down and there are floods everywhere With right proper thundering.
BBC weather for Reeth has heavy thunderstorms today and tomorrown, light rain on Thursday then drying up for friday and saturday but more rain on Sunday. I don't think it's going to be dusty.
Heavy rain is an understatement
itll be fine.
I’ve seen some footage, I’m in Richmond, it’s not bad here but our lads are coming in from up Dale with some crazy stories.
what are the chances of it being cancelled due to the weather?
Any idea at what point they would cancel it.....?
yep, I'm in wensleydale just over the hill from reeth and I think half the north sea landed here in the last couple of hours. Quite a few sirens travelling about too.
So what are the chances of getting the motorhome stuck? Wondering if sleeping in the back of the Land Rover might be a better idea
If the weather forcast is correct I think it'll be OK. It'll soon run off once it stops.

Depends how easily it can get out of the camping field once it's overflowed into it.
I think I already know the answer to this question...NO
but, I'm doing the Sprint on Saturday and the wife is doing the Intro on Sunday. Her first event and not been riding long so very nervous - asked if I'd be able to ride round with her (not doing the stages obv)
@martinhutch true, but I think it usually runs off there pretty easilly. If the forecast is right there shouldn't be much after tomorrow.
River is up a metre in an hour, EA have issued a flood alert. It will be somewhat moist underfoot on Friday I think...
the river is rising and rising!!!
DrP
Is the camping field the Reeth showground or the field in between Dales Bike Centre and the Swale?
The Arkle runs past the former and is what Martin linked to. The gauge on the Swale at Grinton is within normal levels but rising.
It's th one between bike centre and swale, also a couple across the road beside the swale.
