It reminds me (worryingly) of those awful Shimano hubs that had the clutch and instant uptake a couple of years back. Horrible heavy things they were, prone to packing up mid ride leaving you with no drive what so ever.

I ended up hobby horsing my bike nearly 20 miles once because of a Shimano clutch hub. Was not best pleased.

Have you checked <whisper> MTBR </whisper> to see if there's any reviews over there?

whats backlash?

0 degrees between pickups is impossible, there MUST be some degree of play surely?
even if its a one-way-clutch-thingy, there must be a degree of play in the system, and if there isnt, it wouldnt take long to develop some surely?

For what it is worth, these are not new. I first read a review of them about 6 years ago I think.

Superstar and Halo are doing 120-point engagement. Thats about as much as Id trust and honestly, do you need much more?

After having a ssc rear start slipping after less than 3 months, I wouldn't trust 120-point engagement ๐Ÿ™
