I've got a 2 mile commute through a field and woodland track coming up this winter and obviously it's completely dark through there. There some Magicshine lights that look good for 50 quid (can't really justify much more for a 10 min trip) - anyone has any experiences with the brand?

They're a pretty well known budget brand
My MJ-872 is still going strong after 4 years. It cost around £80 and is still as good as it was when I bought it.

I wouldn't even say they are a budget brand anymore.
Certainly not a premium brand, but making nice lights at a sensible price.

682 results on a quick Google search of STW, so yes.

Wife got me mine for xmas MJ808, light has lasted longer than marriage 🙂

Would buy another, batteries aren't much to write home about, but combine it with a decent battery and you will be fine.

yup, no complaints for the price after 5 years of use. Still going but battery doesn't hold its charge so well now.

Yep, bought http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/LIMSMJ900/magicshine-mj900-1200-lumen-led-bicycle-light for ~£30 iirc last year, packs a lot of power for such a tiny light.
