Anyone use Goggles ...

[Closed] Anyone use Goggles with a prescription insert?

Following on from a previous thread about eyewear and a nasty face/tree interaction at the weekend I think I am going to invest in a Full Face helmet and some goggles.

Having very dodgy vision I need my prescription eyewear and have been looking specifically at Goggles with an insert - has or does anyone use these? I am looking at the adidas system which seems to have the most secure clip in system:

I struggle with contact lenses so this looks like the best option for me and although it doesn't look 100% great it does look better than the other one size fits all type or spring loaded inserts. Has anyone any experience of this system or any other prescription goggle set up?

Cheers

Kind of sort of related, I have some ski goggles that can be worn over regular glasses; there's basically a gap in the padding at each side that the arms of the glasses would go through.

Would something like that work?

Not goggles, but I have some ESS U-RX prescription inserts.  I've used them in the Ice glasses, but you can also get carriers for them to be used in either ESS or Oakley goggles.   They have non-glass lenses, so hopefully safer if it all goes a bit wrong.

I thought about over glasses goggles but thought the Adidas system looked a bit more secure?

Apparently due to my particular eye condition and shape Laser surgery might not help and would wear off quite quickly so probably not going that route.

The ESS U-RX look similar in idea willrab - any feedback on those? Are the big enough that the 'frame' isn't in your field of view?

I use to have some Adidas Yodai with the insert then started to use contact lenses. But a visit to hospital last year advised me to stop wearing contacts so now looking at some new goggles with inserts myself. Thinking of getting some form RXSports having used them in the past for glasses I have nothing but a good experience from them.

I'm in a similar boat... I wear prescription sports glasses (sunnies, or clear) when 'normal riding' but for DH and enduro trails, wanted to try goggles.

I bought a pair of Oakley M2 goggles (or something like that - about £25 from winstanley) and they actually fit very comfortably over my normal glasses... Probably just gonna go down that route, tbh..

I haven't really noticed the frame in use, even though it's black and plastic.  Looks more odd if you look in a mirror or for people looking at you if you use clear or yellow lenses.  Makes for easier riding as there is less "unexpected" stuff in the way.
