Plan was never to go up Helvellyn today - we went up Langstrath, Stake Pass, Rossett Gill, Esk Hause and Styhead. There is still a reasonable amount of snow & some patches of sheet ice up high, and the weather is forecast to turn for the worse this week so it might dump a load more snow up top.
Check to see if the ski lift at Raise is running - that will also give a good idea of snow conditions
