Hi, i'm after a cheapish new front tyre, relatively fast rolling, to replace the enormous fat Albert on my hardtail. I don't want to go as far as semi slicks or anything, but definitely want less resistance!
These rapid robs look a bit of a bargain, any one tried them?
Got them on my inbred 29er. Use it for commuting a lot and they roll pretty fast on road, canal tow paths and bridle way as well. Were ok in the snow as well! Not used them on anything too tech or wet roots/rocks type stuff though
I usually run a Nobby Nic(F) and Racing Ralph (R).
Got comprehensively dicked in gloopy thick shite mud by a chap on a similar bike who was on Rapid Robs.
Evidently they're good rubber.
No, he was just a better rider. Robs are the old (less grippy) Ralph tread, and a harder compound.
Perfectly decent tyres, used to rate the old Ralphs.
My cube 29er ht came with a pair of them. Having my first outing at Penmachno in the wet left me in agony and fearing for my life. Incredibly fast, partly down to the cheapo hard compound which had no grip. Swapped for a pair of Ardents and not looked back
