Anyone not get on with a Cotic Soul?.. – Page 2 – Bike Forum

I've really struggled to get what everyone rates about the Soul. I really really want to like it but I've gone back to my Chameleon. On paper the Soul should be perfect 3 to 8 hour rides across the South Downs with occasional use in Afan. I just find it a bit unresponsive in comparison I that makes sense. I know the Chameleon is extremely stiff at the rear but the Soul just feels lethargic. I've read and spoken to a couple of people and they have said they felt the same. I ride a steel surly cross check to commute to work which is fairly rapid. Should I persist and give it another try? Dunno what to do really. Sell it and carry in with my ageing Chameleon.... Aaaaaarrrggggh!!!!!!!!

Seems to be the rear end not having a crispness or snap to it.

Good point though. I've not ridden it on anything over three hours.

I love mine , Mk 2 I did have a small which was too cramped and felt over the front but then I bought a medium with a 60mm stem and its spot on ! its more of a steady eddy ride but thats ok 🙂 I also have 120mm forks and its just right ! maybe you have the wrong size like I did ?

What tyres are you running, same as the Chameleon ? Draggy tyres will make a big difference to the feeling of responsiveness.
I've had a lot of bikes over the past 20 years or so and the Soul is the best hardtail I've ridden. The Chameleon is a typically harsh aluminium frame.
