It's a fantastic trail, well worth supporting.

It is a fantastic trail and one I recommend everyone to ride if they're in the area. Sadly too far away for me to help with.

An issue that everywhere struggles with...much like all other sports and activities, mountain bikers are selfish with their time, so they prefer to ride than get involved. The few who do get involved end up getting eyebrows deep in stuff (and always love getting hassled by some about anything that isn't right for them, as they ride off shouting over their shoulder that they are far too busy to do anything themselves...)

Hopefully they'll get people to fill the positions.

mountain bikers are selfish

Or people are busy? I did my fair share of trail building back in the day but kids getting older and needing ferried about for sports and spending more time working due to the cost of living has changed my priorities. When I do have some spare time and energy I try to get out on my bike for the sake of my mental health. Yes some people are selfish, it just doesn't occur to some but I reckon lots of us are just really busy trying keep on top of our own shit.

Yeah, people are busy and I've no arguments with that...but when they are pedalling away shouting a list of things 'needing fixed', it is selfish.

I'm pretty sure we spent time at Carron Valley together - time before kids did make things easier (but even those without kids aren't that forward in stepping up to get involved).

This isn't everyone, there are those who do step up and get involved and make a massive difference.

I'm not fussy about how much time people spend helping - 15 minutes makes a huge difference...I just wish more people were able to get a bit more involved (those 15 minutes all add up).

Sorry, rambling on and boring everyone.

Golspie has a much smaller captive audience, so getting people to step up to the 3 roles is going to prove even harder as there are fewer people who are close enough to help. Hopefully this will all wash over and 3 people will step in and all will be sorted.

Your right. When I did help at GT you would get lots of people saying thanks and saying they should help out some time, not sure if many did. We were talking about this the other night, when I used to help out you could pretty much turn up and help but now with the TVTA I think you have to book a place and that's just another bit of admin in a busy world.
