Tried a 32.6 -> 27.2 and a 32.8 -> 27.2 USE shim in my Sovereign but it's a too loose with the first and won't fit at all with the latter. They turned out to be undersized when measured with calipers (with seatpost inserted) which confirms older posts about this issue with USE shims. Figure I might as well get a better shim for the job that'll let me use a 31.6 Reverb. It's an obscure size at 32.6->31.6 so I'm wondering who can make a custom shim?
TLDR: Are there any bike-friendly machinists out there that can make a 20-30cm long 32.6 -> 31.6mm shim?
Do you really want something that long?
If it can be done, why not?
I'll be using a Thomson before a Reverb so having as much as shim depth as possible would be ideal. Approaching this with the "get it done right the first time" ๐
That would be a hell of thing to machine with 0.5 mm walls. I'd just but a sheet of 0.5 mm shim steel, trim it and wrap it round the post.
