Hi all, I have this crazy idea of getting a chinese carbon frame 14" and use some bits and bobs frome the shed to build a tiny 26er for my son. He is roughly 140 cm and on a Scott Voltage 24 today.
If I do this, would 165 mm crank work or is it better to go with the suntour 152 mm?
Is it better to just buy a cube frame from bikediscount?
Or does anyone have any small frames in your sheds?
What´s your take on this?
I thought the same, but couldn't unravel the minefield of what's good or not and they weren't that cheap either. So got a cheap alu cube frame from bike discount instead. At that height, you could go straight to 27.5 just about too. 152 cranks.
Do it fast and post on here, so I can take notes. My son is no longer making his 24" bike look huge so I've started eyeing up the Cube frames, or the small Brand-X HT01.
Either way he's getting 26" wheels in the frame because I've a spare pair hanging in the garage!
Don't forget to fire proof it.

Im looking for a 14" carbon frame to replace my wifes bike.
Now call me crazy, but won't you find a bucketload of cheap second hand small 26" frames kicking around that would work just fine with 26" wheels?
where are these bucket loads of cheap small 26 frames you speak of?
I built a transition scout with 26 inch wheels and fork for my son.
The small Cube frames work just fine with 26” wheels and a longer fork.

Actually I find it quite hard to find any used small frames. Checked out Ebay, pinkbike, some scandinavian forum.
M, L, Xl frames are everywhere but small is in hot demand.
Decent HTs at a sensible price are a bit thin on the ground at the moment.
If you do go 275er frame get one with about 30mm or so BB drop and you will be fine. My eccentric had this and it was mint as a 26er. Any more drop and you'll need shorter cranks. Mine were 175 btw and I ran a 150 fork on a 2015 frame.
There are a few frames on eBay of interest but you might as well buy a brand new on one Dee dar for the money and get some warranty.
