i'm half maltese and as my grandparents still live there i've been many times! although not for a few years now 🙁 the locals are friendly if you treat them with respect and there's a lot of history there too it's not just hotels. you'll love it if you like old places and festivals etc.

Yeah I went a few years back. It was ok but I wouldn't go back - nicer places in Greece or Italy IMO. Valetta is nice for a day though.

i thought it was mediocre, especially with sicily and italy just up the road.
i certainly wouldn't go back, felt like everything was crammed into a small space and it all looked the same. i'm no heathen and like having a wander taking in a bit of vernacular architecture and local culture but it certainly didn't inspire me. people were friendly enough though.
