So Kona's new Process 111 is in stock in one or two places, apparently. Looks genius – X1, Pikes, Monarch RT, SLX brakes etc. And the colour's not disgusting, either. The price is great too – £3599. Anyone weighed one? If it's under 28lbs, I need a test ride.

my 153 DL was 33lbs, so cant imagine the 111 being anywhere near 28lbs let alone under it.

A pal's Process 134 in medium was 32lbs c/w pedals, we weighed it on Park digital scales, with the thin Ardents.

He reckons it rides 'lighter'.

You'd be better off with a quick Google to find some of the 2014 model in the sale. Better spec, less money.

I've had a go on the new 111 and it was a lot of fun - definitely well worth a test ride anyway.

@tenacious: you're right, there's a ton of 111 and 111DLs around with big discounts. But the lure of 120mm pikes is too strong!

@threeek: where did you test ride it?

I rode it Cannock Chase - it's the first time I've been on a 29'er; I was surprised how much fun it was to ride. I'm used to a 134DL.

Threek, howd it go uphill and on flatter bits? I really want one of these but wabt a bike that moves forwards wuth uregency and efficiency, well in comparison to something like the 134

Dean,

Unfortunately I don't have much experience of other bikes to give a meaningful comparison to - it seemed to climb better than my 134DL, which in turn certainly climbs better than my (~26lb) Soul hardtail on decent terrain if that's any help.

I suspect it's heavier than my 134, but like the 134 it 'rides light' - a phrase I never believed in until I test rode the 134. Both the Processes feel urgent and efficient to me. The only other FS I've owned and spent much time on was a Specialized FSR >5 years ago. I didn't get on with that FSR at all it was really inefficient and squashy whatever I tried with the shock. I'm sure newer Specialized bikes will be much much better though.

I would say definitely try a Process for yourself if you get chance.

The geometry of the 111 looks so good but it isn't the most efficient pedaller if this is correct:

I'd want to try a Banshee Phantom too.

Agreed, the Phantom certainly looks interesting too - I'd definitely want to try one out if I was looking for a bike 🙂
