I'm looking at getting a set of hayes stroker ryde v8's for dh. Does anybody use them, if so how do you rate them
Many thanks
Ross
don't do it. very poor stopping power even for xc and useles foe downhill. the pads are really small.in the wet they are even worse. i even tried loads of different pads and still no good. the hayes stroker trail are good though and have loads of power.
i have got a set with 200mm rotors lying in my garage if you are intrested, not after a lot for them.
if not get some elixirs.
Same here, used some ryde's on my sons bike and they were rubbish. Got some trails myself and they are great.
Had them years and no trouble at all. Also used them in the alps.
I have the Stroker Comp on my bike and i think they are great, v6 rotors, i might change to v7 (front) just for a bit of extra bit on downhill bits, ut that because im a fat b....
p.s. no idea if they are similar to the Ryde brakes.
Stuck one on the back of my rock lobster because the Julie on there had a leaky piston. CRC had them on special so they were cheaper than repairing the Magura. Anyways, it works just fine for me. 160 rotor and I have plenty enough power. I haven't taken it on more than a 400m vertical descent with my 106kg svelte frame so I don't know about over heating or anything but it has performed just as well as any other brake I have go so far.
