20" would probably be right though at your size I'd consider a rigid 29er. That's what I've been wanting but at 5'7" have found no 16" 29er Inbreds 🙁

On ones tend to have long top tubes, you might get away with an 18", i'm 6'2" and was happy with 18"

I'm 5 10 and rode an 18 which was spot on. Whereabouts are you as I've an 18 inch slidey dropout inbred frame in the garage. Paint is tatty but still great.

im 6ft 4, and have a 20" slotty built up as a 700cc town bike (occasionally single speed, but not today) and also an 18" 456 summer season, built up single speed with tensioner[s] (plural, because i am awkward)
the stem on my 18" is 50mm too, so not very long, and i dont have any problems. Single speed I stand up a lot anyway, so not to worried about the length. (though i do tend to ride it on short thrashes, i dont know how it would handle some longer miles)

I'm 6' 2" have a 19.5" 29er could have gone with a 18" too. If I was going for a 26" personally I would go for the 18" second time around as if it was a 26" it would be more for playing. I would say at 6' go for the 18" in either the 26 or 29er.

I'm 6'3" and rode a 18" slot dropped inbred, low but long with 100mm forks. They are quite nice actually. Red frame going up for sale over the weekend with ss kit

Mollski,
You still talking about building a s/s?
You need a 18" Scandal frame with slot dropout if you can find one!
Oh! You could also consider building a clown one!
Here's mine again! 😉

or

or

don't have any pics of my 26" inbred ss or my 29 inbred ss

at 6ft I'd go for an 18" frame
