hi if you ride the above ,let me no what you think please, photos would be great, both on chain reaction for £600
I have an ns core 1. Awesome steel frame. It's largely a Freeride bike but mines now built up as more of a trail / xc machine, much lighter than when I first bought it. Before I got it I had a look at the 5-0 and would says its not as superior, it's an Alu frame for a start if I remember correctly and heavy! The ns seems more versatile
I don't have a Core, but I've got an NS Surge which is the same frame - it's an amazing bike. Probably a bit heavier than the Kona as it's a steel frame but definitely a good bike for the money (Surge frame alone is £280) and room to upgrade as and when you want.
OK many thanks guys
my spare bike is a five-o deluxe.. not ridden it that much, but what i have, it rides pretty sweet. doesnt climb too badly, nice geometry (im 6,1 and ride an 18''), drop the saddle and its great. Have changed the brakes on it to a set of hopes, and put some bigger tyres on. It is a heavy bike though. front heavy with the marz 55's.. planning on changing them soon (if i use it more) to a pair of rockshoxs.
despite konas fairly average reputation, id say its pretty good for the money. no quarrels with mine.
ok wilde 86 i see chain reaction are doing them for £600,is the 18 inch to small for you,im 6ft 1 and would have gone for a 20 or is that like rideing a gate??
the 18'' is perfect for me and what i use it for. as i said its my second bike, so doesnt get used that often (saying that, my full sus is an 18'' too). from experience, ive had a 20'' frame before and it just seemed huge! climbing was easier on it, but i (like most) prefer the descending.. and on an 18 its easier to throw about and get your weight back/lower etc..
hardtail wise, id never go bigger than 18. plus, theres plenty of seat post if you do want to go right up for the long climbs!
is it the five-o or the deluxe they have?
