[#3602373]

I have another new light that will be on sale from the end of February.

A sample light is going to STW towers for testing next week but there is another available to loan to Premium members who are doing 24hr or night events in the next few months on a first come basis.

The light is a Twin XM-L T6 unit producing a real 1300 lumens on it's highest setting.

The light head is little bigger than a matchbox and weighs less than 80g making it perfect as a helmet light (it has a bar mount too). The entire package is less than 300g (including the sealed hard case battery).

It uses a standard Magicshine type battery connector so any spare batteries you have with that type connection will be compatible as backups for 24 hour races. Battery life on full power is 2.5hrs and 12 hours on 300 lumens with the battery pack provided.

Any Premium member interested in loaning the light for an event please email me with their site user-name and details of the event (dates etc) so I can compile a list.

No replies to this? Or did you all just email him in the hope of "getting in" first?

I don't race, so no use to me, and have no 'vested interest' in Neninja' business, but having seen the 2000 lumen version he sells and been blown away by it, I definitely recommend you take up his offer.

M6TTF - I'll mail you the info on it. It's a great package and very competitively priced compared to Hope, Exposure etc which is the brands it's targeting.

I thought a few people might take up the loan offer but I've not had a single email.

This light must have one of the best light output to weight/size ratios of any light available.

Over 1200 'real' lumens, so double the true power of a P7 Magicshine from a light that's 25% lighter and smaller.

The quality of the beam is excellent with one lens spot and the other flood so you get good throw and plenty of light close to.

As soon as it's available for sale it will be advertised on here like the Inton light I sell.

ummm, looking at the calendars and there is only one 24 hr race in the next few months, which is a solo event, would you really want 4/5 battery changes in one race? no ta

Well you instantly slashed your potential number of respondants by saying "premier only"...

There are also few 24s in the 'next few month' - you've missed the 'Puffer, Mayhem is in June, 24/12 July and SiTS August. You've got Exposure 24 for the soloists, who may find battery life an issue, and CLIC24 which is a very low key affair.

There are probably 3 people on the forum who meet your criteria, and maybe the didn't see your post!

Hi,
All being well, I will be doing the Day/Night Enduro at Innerleithen in Feb. I'd be interested in trying out the light for that.
I think it's on 18th Feb.

Cheers,
RD.

I do a 20 mile each way commute in the dark but I'm not a premier member, well I was but I cancelled my subs. I don't race though but I would certainly give it lots of testing.

Says the non premium member. 🙄
Premiumist

Why restrict to them are they more trustworthy?

Realman?

For that reason I'm oot.

rugbydick - well it's yours for that weekend if you want it.

GaryM - mail me. You can test it too.

amt27 - do you run full power for the entire night element of 24h races? I wasn't really targeting 'sponsored' riders as they are already well catered for. There must be plenty of riders who aren't sponsored who would appreciate the offer.

I don't race so am reliant on ideas from yourselves as to what works/what doesn't and how you use your lights when racing hence why I decided to offer the light for loan to get some 'quality' feedback.

In terms of battery life, the light comes as a retail package with a 5800mAh battery with voltage indicator. There is no power indicator on the light head as you can't see it when helmet mounted anyway but I can supply it with a 11000mAh battery for longer events (you'd then lose the battery voltage indicator but the light flashes high/low to warn of low voltage and then dims itself when getting critical).

I just wanted to keep the offer open to regular contributors on the forum hence why I thought of restricting it Premier members. If regular site contributors want to borrow it for an event then please get in touch.

Retail price will be around £165 inc vat - it's aimed squarely at the likes of Hope and Exposure rather than Magicshine. Dealer pricing will also be available for bike shops.

I'll provide more pics and info nearer to when it's available. At this stage I'm after guinea pigs.

neninja - yep I'll take it for the weekend for Saturday 18th Feb.

I will drop you a line closer to the time and we'll arrange everything.

Very kind offer, btw.

Mr Trout has loaned his lights out without all this exclusive loan details, I know who I'd rather deal with.

Lets see some pics of said light then?

yeh, well I would, you want to see as much as you can, after 8 or 12 hours you are pretty tired last thing you want to be doing is thinking about switching batteries and when your power might run out,

I know Troutie is a great bloke with a great product but does that exclude anyone from launching a product that might be in competition?

Didn't troutie get his hands slapped for doing a post like this
L

1. I'm a paid up advertiser on the site - look right. I was told not to post about my lights unless I paid for advertising which is exactly what I do.
2. Right now I'm merely seeking product testers, hence why there's no pictures, no product specs etc.

Mr Trout has loaned his lights out without all this exclusive loan details, I know who I'd rather deal with.

Lets see some pics of said light then?

I perhaps over estimated the number of Premier members here initially but opened the offer up to regular forum users about 4 posts before yours, so what exclusive details?
Troutie makes an amazing product but it's not the only light out there.

I'll provide pics and details when it's available for sale in a months time. For now I'm only looking for people to try it and give feedback.

To those who've mailed me or responded on here, thanks, I'll reply to you all tomorrow.

Well, neninja lent me his light for my first 24h solo event and I must say I was very impressed. I recommend this light to everyone (and I swapped batteries once in the night and frankly it's no bother)

My first impression upon opening the parcel was how tiny and ‘cute’ this light is. It’s a very neat design with a simple looking little light and battery and it’s nicely presented in a box.

It’s got a button which you can attach to where you want near the bar by sticking a little square of Velcro on your bike and the button has a Velcro backing. This is pretty cool, although I don’t know how durable the Velcro backing on the button would be in dirt and mud.
The battery is small, stylish and fits neatly between the top tube and the down tube. It’s got 4 charge indicators which is very useful.
There’s a extension lead which means that when you run the light near the battery (as when the light is on the bars and the battery on the frame), you don’t have length of cable to accommodate ; but you can also have length when the light is on your helmet and the battery in your pack.

The light itself is a strong looking metal case with two lenses, a flood and a spot which can be easily changed/replaced. I particularly liked the attachment system to the bars (with an oring – very simple and effective) and the fact that the lights sits above the stem so it’s totally central to the bars. The helmet mount is also provided and looks just as simple and neat although haven’t tried it.
The light is very bright and gives a very even wide light with no noticeable bright spot in the middle which is a good thing. It feels like you see ‘everywhere’. Twisty narrow singletracks in the woods with rapid changes of direction and with the light on the bar wasn’t a problem.
I did the race on 700 lumens to save battery life and that was plenty for a very demanding twisty narrow course. Marshalls commented on several occasions on ‘that blinding light’.
I found the light to be very white but not arsh like early LED models from around 2005.

The light has four different modes (trail, commuter, bush, adventure) and each has 3 settings with a special mode. I found it fiddly. The navigation through the different mode is simple enough with the button and different style of ‘click’, ‘press’ and ‘hold’. The navigation within each mode is also simple. However, choosing which mode to use is a bit of a faff and you’ll need the instructions to work out which different level of lights you get in each mode. It’s not something you’ll do on the go, unless you’ve worked out through previous uses that you need such mode for such activity, etc…

The bar mount works best with constant diameter bars. With o/s bars, you’d probably need to fiddle something so that the light sits well on the bar and points ahead.

Overall, apart for the fiddly different settings, the system is simple, effective and good looking. I raced through the night without feeling any strain, it actually made the night riding really enjoyable even sleep deprived. Well, it must have been good, I won the race!
For me a good piece of kit is one that just performs and that you forget about. This light satisfies that criteria.
In short, I’m buying it.

How's it compare to the 2000+ lumen version?
