Always wanted an Orange and White Kona King Kikapu, it would make me all warm inside to own one even now.

PS anyone know where my old copy of 'As I walked out one summers morning' is?
Having a bad day, accidently shaved off the tash and flava sava I was growing.

I've always fancied a Pace RC200.
I often look on Ebay to see if there's one up for sale.

I've still got an Orange Clockwork with Pace RC30's. I'll always have one.

I lusted after a Yo Eddy back in the day, nowadays I realize I'd be better off just riding my bike more 🙄 😆

pieface. i had a marin eldridge grade with the zolatone paint back in 92 (was the model right below the pine mountain).before that i had been riding a 1988 dawes ascent mountain bike (15 speed sis thummies,501 tubing, weight a ton).it felt like night had turned into day, when i started riding the eldridge (great bike!) but the bike i really lusted after was like brakes said,a klein adroit (it had to be in gator fade colour scheme)or the klein attitude (must be in purple linear fade).i went to an earls court bike expo (for work.having the day off, visiting a bike expo what's not to like.)i remember seeing the aforementioned kleins on one of the displays.they had the adroit on a set of scales (i think it weighed under 20lbs,it had some very special components fitted to it.i did pick up an attitude fuselage (frame,fork,bar/stem combo)and was astonished by how light it was.unfortunately no way in hell of being able to afford one!!!

You know that thing about meeting your heroes? Lusted after a GT LTS when I was a younger man, got one and hated it. Dreams smashed. A Fat Chance Yo Eddy or Pace RC200 would be great though.

I'd love a shot on an early Breezer Klunker down the Repack trail.

I'm fortunate enough to own some of these older bikes. Such great fun to ride- a Fat Chance is just as quick over Cut Gate as my Cotic Soul. One of the best handling hardtails ever.

[IMG] [/IMG]

I also have a 37 Schwinn Excelsior B-10 which has just been rebuilt with Morrow hub brakes and period correct Araya steel rims. Its great fun going down Innerleithen but at over 45lbs its a bitch to pedal up.

[IMG] [/IMG]

[IMG] [/IMG]

I also had a Whiskeytown Racer last year but sadly it was just too small. Lovely bike though- even did one of the Kielder marathons on it last year.
Currently builing up an early Breezer which is the only itch that has not been scratched as yet.

I've always really fancied a '99 Specialized Rockhopper in Grabber Green.

Also, in another fine shade of green a '98 Kona Lava Dome.

Modest tastes! 😉

I like still having my own old mtb, but it's just sentimental value- it's a terrible bike, as are pretty much all old bikes. I wouldn't mind a xizang, always had a thing for those.

But, what I would like back is my old BMX... We got it for £30 off a classified ad, and all I remember of it at the time was that it was indestructible, pretty light, and very high geared- I secretly never really liked it even though it'd have broken my dad's heart if I'd admitted it. But looking at pics now, it was a Tange Hot Heart, ex-Scotia race bike. Scotia BMX being where Chris Hoy started out. We just assumed all BMXs were kids bikes I think 😆 Sold it for what we paid for it but I'd pay a lot more now.

I'd like one of these:

Like others above, I think I'd be disappointed if I did ever own one and actually ride it in anger!

i'm constantly perving at old bikes. I've had a WTR, Bontrager Race Lite, Klein Attitude and tons of others and i now have a Kona Hot Stars and Bars whilst the Kona King Kahuna still eludes me, the Ti one of course not that horrible new thing 😉

I owned two of the bikes mentioned here so far. I had a Manitou fs. It was an Answer one rather than the original Doug Bradbury one but I've sort of forgotten about it. Had a couple of the hart tails after that which were okay.

I also has a marin.1990 team marin. Zolatone paint, tange steel frame and straight xt groupset. I consider that my first real mountain bike.

I remember listing after the fisher cr7 and rs-1. Original Kleins and AMPs were also very nice.

I've always fancied a Klein mantra, my mate has one which he's letting me have to sell on retrobike, if I like it I may keep it. I've got a clockwork hanging upin the garage but it's a little small for me.

I love old Konas, they're the bikes me and my mates grew up on. The 95/96 Cindercones are classics, in gold.

I've got a Mongoose Amplifier, the one made by Amp Research, and it's so light and fun to ride.

Oh, and allyharp, I've got a 97 Rockhopper in red. Not quite the one you're after but coll all the same. 😉

Mountain Cycle San Andreas

Orange Clockwork

Marin with the paint like those above

Kona Lava Dome

All imprinted on my mind from years of poring over MBUK in the early 90's!

Amp research. I use to droul over these in American MTB mags.
Never saw one in the flesh. The forks were amazing to look at.

I owned a canondale Super Raven SX 900 carbon, first Canondale to get the Lefty fork - was a cracking 100mm full suss. bike, weighed sub 23lbs, the Lefty was a really nice fork, super smooth and plush. The shock set up was never quite right on the frame - was ahead of pro-pedal days and it needed it - was single linkage design system but squatted into its travel. Sold it as soon as it started to creak - fearing "crack & fail" was coming. Was £3,000 quid new - seemed like a fortune at the time - circa Yr.2000(ish) from memory.
Coda disc brakes - they were a joke - using your feet would have been better to stop the bike.....ahh fond memories.

I always liked the Fisher CR7 in lime green with a chrome back end, but as with most of these old skool bikes they'd be way to uncomfortable now. Long gone are the days of arse up head down and good riddance to it.

How old is old? My 2001 Intense Tracer was an amazing bike. Ironically, never rode it much as I also have the Uzzi SL.

I'd like my 1991 Breezer Storm back. Loved that bike. Only consolation was that it had no brake blocks on it when it was nicked, so hopefully the **** who swiped it from our garage smashed his stupid face in when he got to the bottom of the next hill.

If it makes you happy you can have the frame that is sat in my garage doing nothing. Just need to collect it.

I always wanted an AMP B4
[img] [/img]

Linkage forks, original Horst link, short wheelbase, very light ...

I know that the pivots wear in no time and it probably doesn't cut the mustard by today's standards but it was an object of desire for many years.

i have a 93 marin sausalito for sale - which would give you the right period parts to complete the build (bar the wheels) 🙂

I used to have a Funk, fab bike and would love to have another. Really wish I never sold it.

I fancy a manitou fs but their reputation is they crack.

Used to have an amp b3 and it was fun and very capable.

Other than that I'd live a mantis pro floater but they are hens teeth.

Lots of this on retrobike.

Kona King Kahuna:

A 1998 Specialized Stumpjumper M2 S-Works in neon green (think it was something to do with Mountain Dew sponsorship)with red forks and red Mavic rums, although I can't find a picture of one anywhere.
