Back in the day .... 15 years ago I think .... I bought a nice stock of Ground Effect Manta Ray jerseys.  Sadly they have all now expired.  They have every feature I want: Loose-fitting, not sheer material, half zip front, high collar, not figure-hugging and just one zipped pocket.

Everything I can find now is either an upper body condom, or rubber grip hemmed, or a mobile billboard or has multiple pockets at the rear.  I don’t want any of these things as I use a backpack most of the time and am of an age / appearance where I don’t want anything tight.

Anything out there you can recommend?

Thanks - pockets I can do without completely.  I suspect I’m parting company from cycling tops now as they all look daft off the bike (to me and on me anyway).

I've got a couple of merino polo shirts from sportpuesuit.  The supernatural one is a relaxed fit, with a relatively lightweight wool, smooth finish, comfy against the skin.  Wife says I look good (contractual obligation tho - prenup.)  And obviously the collar's there for popping, if you want it high.

Ground Effect make jerseys that meet your spec. The Stingray for example:

"The Stingray delivers hot-weather cycling performance without requiring you to squeeze into a body-hugging mobile billboard.

  • Stand up collar to block UVs. Who wants to be labelled a red neck?
  • UPF 50+
  • Outrageously long front zip for turbo charged ventilation.
  • Regular fit and no-elastic hem lets the wind 'blow up your kilt'.
  • WhaleTail™ covers your back when you're stretched to the max.
  • Rear security pocket coupled with elasticised pockets for on-the-go access."

😉

What you're describing there is a polo shirt.

There wasn’t budget requirement in the original post, was there? Patagonia and 7mesh have jerseys and technical shirts like this. Also Norrona.

For budget version I have Altura jersey which fits all the requirements but I can’t recall the model name.

GE Stingray has too many pockets and a bit clingy.

Polo shirts tend to get a bit sweaty - I’ve tried!

Will try out the others ... thanks all.

Lots of golf related manufacturers make polo shirts in all sorts of technical sports fabrics to prevent this.

Have you tried a ugly grey, badly fitting, riding shirt, with comedy oversize chest pockets?

I think I've mentioned before that I've not liked the golf ones as they don't have a dropped back and sometimes leave a gap.

I bought a Pearl Izumi Versa shirt and I'm more than happy with it.
