Any hidden trails nr Brighton.
Thanks..........
The clue is in 'hidden'. Go have an explore, I'm sure you'll find some stuff. ๐
found a new bit nr Worthing... But a after work night ride we always do the same lap. hove park, over 2 patcham then up and over to stamer park and along lewes road. want a new loop.. about 15 mile is good... my lights are old and do not last long! thanks
The downhill from Hollingbury Fort to Wild Park is a must. Take the left hand (northerly) track from the fort, or if you fancy trying your skills on the Shore woodwork, go right. Ace fun ๐
There's also the track that runs parallel to Ditchling Rd from the Hollingbury golf course heading down towards 5ways. Great fun in the dark ๐
Thanks will check them outtttttttttt!
lots of subtle bits in stanmer (on the way to the unvirsty)
including "the hill that no man can climb" ๐
Also, there's a plethora of "hidden" trails at Stanmer, some cheekily hand-cut by members of B'ton MTB. they meet at 7 on Thursday nights at the Sussex Uni sports centre. Come along. They're usually happy to share their trail knowledge. No one knows Stanmer better.
Check out the Brighton Big Dog website. They used to have a rough map of last year's course on there. Some wonderfully long stretches of linking singletrack marked out - properly surprising that so much can be found in such a seemingly small area.
think i caught up with them guys once in the park... tagged along great fun!!!!!!!!! Missed the big dog, was training B4 work and popped my knee out, but by the sound of it was a good track!!!!!!!!!!!

Just back from 'hidden trails nr Brighton', yes there are lots, but they are hidden so impossible to describe navigation. As mentioned above, come along and see, you will need decent lights though. ๐
PS: what shop are you from?
i sometimes log my rides from my phone... and i know pretty much all the trails you'll find round these parts. So, if you mail me, i can always send you a link to 'log-my-ride' where you'll find them.

I tend to avoid a lot of the singletrack at Stanmer at this time of year - it cuts and erodes up pretty badly when it's wet. Even the new bits up near the uni are showing wear and they're not that old.
With the state of the ground now wven stuff that's pretty tame in the summer is 'interesting' have a look at the most recent post on here;
Morvelo Blog
It's not exactly hidden (it's the track the runs between patcham and Stanmer beside the A27 but, as the blog says, always a challenge (but I guess you ride that bit regularly anyway, unless you always head up laies mile).
if you're just looking for a different route why not go past the Chatri and across to Dtichling Beacon - you can get to Snamer if you carry on along the sdw past the beacon and take the first bridleway on the right and follow that for a bit.
Anyway, point of this post is that it's worth just riding the 'usual stuff up top' - it's more of a challenge when its a clagmire and it saves the good stuff for the dry days when it'll stay good?
how much shore is there?
Woodsman, come the better weather, i'll try and get my buds round to Brighton for the day for a return ride!
Jedi,
Not poked my nose around there since last summer but i imagine the woodwork remains pretty much the same - although new stuff seems to pop up regularly. It's all on quite a steep slope through the trees and is mostly made up of jumps, drops and small sections of raised track. Much of it is linked with berms and there's a pallet and planks wall ride near the bottom of the slope. I've seen some big bikes come visit especially to ride it but if you're used to bigger stuff then you might be disappointed. I imagine it is curated by folks at Freedom bikes in B'ton. Give em a call if you want to find out more - that sort of riding isn't really my thing.
Cheers.
the shore does tend to be a bit of a moving feast too - if the rangers get too many complaints they knock a few bits down which then get rebuilt in a slightly different place.
i'm not sure rich is maintaining the shore at the moment. i think things get done by whoever to keep it rideable only as and when.
i've no time to build anything interesting any more. i only just have about enough time to scratch out a few lines.
anyone else seen the wild park restoration proposals on teh BHCC website? looks like they are proposing to remove alot of the vegitation so could have implications to the trails there.
I'm going to head out to Stanmer in a bit - haven't been there for years for some reason - see what I can find.
Not heard of the plans to manage Wild Park but have now looked here (thanks for the headsup :-)).
Doesn't seem to affect much of the sweetest trails, unless access rights become a problem...
jedi hows things, the shore at wild park is very shoody in places but very clever in some places as well ,last time i was there the 2 wall rides were great and well built,it might be worth a visit, you could do half day there and then go somewhere else, gis a shout if you fancy it,
i didnt make corby the other day come down with a cold
BigYin - yes, you're more than welcome, email me or Mike via the site and we'll organise something. We were only talking about a possible IOW ride for this summer last night - perhaps we could venture to a different part of the island, be good to see more.
Pete
jedi - there is some shore over at Wildwood, from what I've seen - your pics, you may be dissapointed.
I found quite a few twisty trails in the Great Wood today at Stamner, not sure how secret they are or how they all link up though to give a nice flowy trail - muds not too bad either.
thanks guys
