Thanks to a few posts on another thread, I'm thinking about buying one.

Until today I had never heard of Genesis, can anyone tell me about them? and tell me about any good and bad experiences you have had with them?

Thanks

Craig

I got one and I LOVE it. Nothing negative to report. I got mine for £600 off ebay, they said it was new but i think it was a display model. All was perfect with it tho.

Any questions ask away.

genesis are owned by madison. they are the uk importers for shimano and lots of other brands. they are big players in the industry and can spec the best shimano parts for the money as they can buy it cheapest. genesis bikes are very good quality...

The Merlin Genesis decision must come down to top tube length. You need to sit on ideally both bikes to choose.

The Merlin deals are fantastic but for some the top tubes are a little short

Genesis was born out of the Ridgeback brand which is entering its 27th year. Originally the Genesis name was used on the Ridgeback flat bar road bikes then 4 years ago the range was expanded to include MTBs. The current range covers MTB, a small selection of road and a couple of more niche bikes. The range is designed in the UK for UK riders (ie wet and muddy conditions). Both the higher end 853 framed and the slightly more budget 520 framed Altitudes have had some great reviews. See HERE to see what the magazines have to say.
