I really like using clipless pedals (I'm a roadie at heart) but with my mountain bike it's just not that convenient as I use it for quite a few short journeys.
I've tried the Shimano M324 combi pedals but frankly, they're s***e!
Are there any from any other brands that are any good? If not I'll just stick with flats and switching when necessary.
Cheers

I sometimes pedal to the shops or to the park with the kids, using trainers and Time Freeride pedals, it works OK.
EDIT it depends what you mean by short journeys, and they're not good in the wet.

Crank Bros Mallets are pretty usable both with and without cleats.
There is also the Shimano A530 - but I've not tried those
